The GAS Pass 2009

Wifey just called and said this has landed, I will report back tonight.

Box arrived in good shape. Both hygro's are right on the money. All of the cigars are in place as they should be and all look good except for #25 the DCM Stanford's 90th. It was hard to tell if it was a crack or if the wrapper was just coming up but in my experience it seems to happen frequently with this stick.

Proposed P/T's:

17) Padrón 1926 80th Anniversary Maduro --- 65) Don Carlos Edicion de Aniversario Robusto
21) Padrón 1964 Anniversary Piramides Maduro 2003 --- 66) AF Opus X Reserva D'Chateau 2004
67) AF WOAM

If these look good I can turn this thing around ASAP. Let me know.

Thanks!

Sucks about the DCM S90th. If anyone thinks they can repair it with some pectin - be my guest! I appreciate it! If you want the cigar, please report back with overall damage assessment and take it at a discount.

As for the trades, I believe they look good. I think the $0.50 price difference (in MSRP) on the Padron/Opus is made up for by the bit of rarity the Opus brings to the table. However, there is already an Opus RdC in the pass - but since this one is from 2004, I don't mind so much ;).

I would love to hear thoughts from everyone else, even if it means the package gets mailed Wednesday.

Edit: Typo.
Edit 2: Grammar. So lexdysic.

Ps/Ts look good to me.....sucks about the 90th. Glad I put a 2nd one in there now, hehe.

Just give me the word... :whistling:

My only question is there rarity issue. Would it be acceptable to trade a PAM for a Opus?

I think they are good, price wise but I ask because I see people put Opus on a pedastal when it comes to trades and rarity is always what is discussed. Are we saying that the Pam is right there with the rarity factor as the Opus? Just asking.

 They're good. Sorry if I was not clear on my stance a couple days ago.

For example sake, we'll use a 2008 PAM vs. a 2008 Opus of the same price. In terms of price, they're about even for certain vitolas. Some vitolas are more readily available than others. I don't quite know production numbers of Padron 64s, but they seem to be somewhat more easily obtained than Opus - whether it be by an online retailer or B&M. What was at stake in this trade wasn't a simple $ for $ - rather a 5+ year nap as well as a slightly more rare Padron vitola.

Most Padron 64's a readily available, but the Piramides is not something you see all that often.

For Everyone to consider :)-

I knew there was no way in hell that Padron was making it all the way to New York, but I still had the dream!

:) About time a super high end stick is on the chopping block. Obviously, a swap like that needs to input from more than one person, so let's hear it fellas! Number 2 is obviously good and generous. Might I add insanely generous on the Taboada, Jim!

Some background info on his first trade:
Per this link, only 275 Opus Love Stories have been released at $20 a piece, making it obviously rare and quite pricey.
The Padron Family has never been released and you can only get it a Padron event or dinner. You basically have to purchase some Padron and then get it handed to you or purchase them from the Padrons.

Let's hear some input! I'm quite obviously leaning towards !

I am so new to this type of discussion you don't even want to hear my input but here goes: Can you put the suggested MSRP for each? I didn't know we were allowed to take two and put three in?

I tried to do some research on the Padrón Reserva de la Familia No. 44 and didn't too much meaning its pretty damn rare. This link says its extremely rare and practically impossible to find.

whew so I think this is ok.

Bot the love story and the mi familia are rare in my limited experience. However, is the Padron free with a purchase at Padron events? I think with the rarity of the Love Story it is an easy YES, but I am a chub when it comes to this :)

Don

Golf,

There isn't an MSRP of the Padron as it's not even available for purchase for the most part as far as I know.

As far as the P/T's look, they're good to me.

The Love Story is rare and pricey and the Party Seleccion Privada is discontinued. They're good with me even if I wanted the Padron.
