What smoking music are you listening to? (2024)

A legend who literally affected music worldwide. A great write up in The Guardian here <linky

Well it's not MMM, but I just finished this up,,, I know politics are touchy, so if this offends anyone just click a sad face and I will remove. Otherwise share it with anyone you like...
Leaving the politics and personal music preferences aside, I will have nothing but disdain for anyone who chooses to "click a sad face" in an attempt to get this removed.
I would hope that this community is comprised of grown men, rather than just people of legal smoking age.

Edit:
I removed the link to the video, at the request of the poster/creator.

We've always treaded lightly, when it came to politics. That's why there aren't those discussions any longer.

I probably wouldn't bring up politics in any different thread, but this is more about the artistry of the song than if you agree or disagree with the message or who its about. But my original statement stands if it offends someone I will remove it, no questions asked. And now that I think about it, I can see where clicking the sad face would potentially single someone out, so if someone PM's me, I will remove and never mention it again...

That is probably the correct approach for a site that is quite niche to begin with.
My comment had nothing to do with anyone's political views or even their taste in music.

That said, anyone that pretends to have suffered injury or offense from hearing lyrics such as:
"It's time we all unite." and/or "We must remove all the hate." needs to have a serious look in the mirror.

Wouldn't it be just as easy for someone to click the stop button on the player and move on to something else?

Words have consequences be they sung, spoken or written. When you talk sing or write about a political figure there is no "politics aside" because you have already jumped into the deep end. I don't think it is appropriate for this forum.

Disdain away.

I can respect that... There is always a time and place. Just for the record there is no rule against posting something political on CPass, it just says be mindful or polite or something to that affect. Regardless I do not have to share that song here... Lets continue our bond and love for cigars and music...

Words definitely do not have consequences.
They are nothing more than abstract concepts, completely void of agency.

Genesis 1 does not ascribe consequences to God's words, even as He is said to be speaking existence into being.

Shout "FIRE" in a theater, use your theory and then get back to me about consequences.

You are correct about Genesis but check out the rest of the book and "HELL" for consequences.
