I smoked a 1+ year old Shark yesterday afternoon in mourning of my good pal Clarence. We got him after my first year of college, so he was more my brother's dog (I'm 9 years older than my brother) but when my mom passed away a few years ago, a week before my brother went off to school, suddenly Clarence was the only one left in the house to keep my dad company.

My dad called yesterday morning and told me that Clarence had been hit by a car and killed about 6 miles from home on the opposite side of town. He was an unruly and untrainable (or perhaps just willful and deliberately disobedient...) dog, and was a constant tester of boundaries. He had recently figured out a new way to escape from the yard (a long standing arms race between him and my dad that we thought had ended a few years ago) that my dad absolutely couldn't figure out. He was 13.5 years old and too old to jump the fence, but we've got no other ideas how he escaped--no holes in or under the fence, gate still latched, propped shut and tied, etc. He had escaped before, but he never travelled that far ever before as far as we know.

I figured that the Shark was a poetic tribute to him given the number of our belongings he bit and/or chewed up over the course of his life. I accompanied the cigar with a glass from a ~30 year old bottle of Jim Beam that was once part of my grandfather's stocked bar.

A great cigar marred by unhappy circumstances.

RIP, Clarence. We'll miss you buddy.

I'm really sorry for your loss :(. He was a good lookin dog.

I smoked an Old Henry Robusto I've been keeping since they were released (early 2007 I think). It was the last of a fiver and the rest were very unpleasant (too young even after 6-8 months of humi time). This cigar was no better, really. It had smoothed out some, but it reminded me of a harsher DPG Black Label cigar. The flavors tried to come through, but the damn thing was so prickly on my senses I couldn't get anything out of it. I really don't see how much more age would help these for me. If they're no good after 1 1/2 years, I'm done.

The construction was flawless, the wrapper was an absolutely gorgeous reddish brown, and I love the bands on these (sad when the band is the best part of a cigar), but I won't be revisiting them.

That's good news for those of you who do like them. :)

Had a Johnny-O Robusto over the weekend, and a Don Francisco Maduro Robusto last night (local cigars hand rolled locally in NJ). Both, even young, were excellent.

I had half of a RP Vintage 1992 seconds before the wrapper blew up, and then I smoked a Cuvee 151 maduro. I will be buying more of the Cuvee.

AVO LE 05 today. What a smoke this was. I've had a few, but I don't remember them smoking this well. Great smoke.

Smoked a Oliva Serie O last night. Very nice cigar. It was a little mild for me but still really enjoyed it.

DPG JJ Sublime Maduro first thing in the morning got me feeling a little light headed.

Opus #4 after dinner. Needs more time in the humi. I should have known better.....

Last night was a very good Boli CG from '99. Mild, but very flavorful and balanced. So far today was an '03 RASS which never disappoints.

Had a Liga for lunch and just finished a PAM Exclusivo.....ahhhhhhhh

I smoked a Tat RC233 tonight.

This was a very good smoke. Not at all like most of the other Tats I've smoked and it didn't really sneak up on me. It got stronger as I got towards the end, but never too strong. I've got 2 left and I hope to get the chance to smoke one sometime in above 50* weather (it was about 45* here all damn day  ) so I can really enjoy it.

If you're going to smoke one, don't make any other plans for awhile. These things burn forever...

Have you had the 184 yet Alan? I think it has a similar profile but more flavor. You should give that one a go if you have one.

I have a few Tatuaje RC-184 left. I would agree that it has a little more, and a little better flavor. Very nice, complex, smoke. I just love it.
If your a Tatuaje Fan, you have to try one.

I started the day with a Devils Weed Robusto. I'm thinking that these might smoke better at 68-70% rh.

1996 Fonseca Cosacos for breakfast  Nice moring cigar with a cup of kona coffee. These are a bit mild with the age on them but a good one to start the day with.

try to decide what to have after lunch.

Had a Tatuaje brown label noella with my coffee this morning. MMMMMMM.... Good

I haven't had that one yet. I'll try to get my hands on a couple sometime. I really enjoy coronas and PCs, but I am finding an appreciation for the bigger stuff when I have the time (which is more often now that it's no longer "officially" winter).

Alan,
You wanna trade? I will take your 50 degrees to sit outside and smoke the behemoth, as opposed to the upper 80's-low 90's we have now. I hate the heat, and sitting out in it to smoke a 4 hour cigar is going to be rough. But don't worry, I'll do it. Maybe I'll smoke that 233 at the next Outlaw event since I'll have nothing to do but sit around for 12 or so hours.

I had my first Padron 2000 today. I wish someone told me about these earlier :whistling: . I guess I've been paying too much for a good cigar.

I enjoyed a Cohiba Siglo III while hanging out on the patio this evening.

Smoking a Padilla 8 & 11 that was gifted to me by Padilla himself. What a cigar!!!
