Instead of blastin him, I took a sardonic approach. Regardless of that, Lee sent me a PM to appologize a fewdays back. I accepted, and he is now back on track.WTF? ??? I'm confused. I'm missing something here. I tried to go back and see where this came from, can't find it, and I can only guess that it was in a PM? But if I remember correctly, you were specifically asked for your input on this pass.:whistling:so really...
how many unwritten rules are there? ???
i have a bad habit of saying what's on my mind sometimes. so here's to my habit (please don't be offended)...
Take > Put
Equal = Equal
*as many as you like for this pass*
let's not out-think ourselves into a 25+ page pass when we don't need to.
anything you feel is good ettiquette... go with it.
say you don't take from the host... send him one personally... or don't... whatever.
Yeah, the last time I checked this pass was for people to learn about cigar passes while having a good time participating in one. I appologize to Garretbuckeye for over stepping my place on the board trying to impart a little knowledge to the others here. It seems he was offended by me speaking my mind. You know, a wise man once posted, "Read more, post less". Perhaps I should have done that instead. ???This pass will be for the new guys, myself included, who are looking to participate in the CigarPass spirit. The purpose of this pass is to go through the drill of what a cigar pass is all about, receiving, packing, mailing, puts and takes.
And while you are not the host of the pass, you have been asked for guidance and assistance. Are you yankin my chain Emo?Experienced members On board Are emodx, hojadepuro and ggiese to help guide this pass along.
Ehh....it may just be me, but I don't think a Dominican Red Dot is anywhere near the caliber of cigar that the Opus is. They're definitely not as rare (available all year long), and the price is inflated due to the Cohiba name. Obviously Jay has the final say, but in my book it doesn't pass the "quality-for-quality" test.I have a question about a p/t I am thinking about.
I have a Cohiba Red Dot Triangulo and was wondering if it could be traded for the opus-x #5?
I have the price covered. The Cohiba averages to about $11 while the Opus is listed as $8 from the past two takes. I am wondering if the cohiba is not matching the rarity of the Opus? What does everyone think? Jay told me that is was okay but to run it by on the board. Hopefully the pass will be in my hot little hands tomorrow.
thumbs downI should like to call on our panel of judges, Red Dot/#5 opus :sign:

That is why we have the exp. members on the board.
Sorry Kramer, if this set you back, maybe we can work something out, out side the pass.
How do these look?
T: #7 A. Fuente Don Carlos Presidente ($9)
P: #61 Montecristo Classic Toro ($9)
T: #34 H. Upmann Reserve Double Corona ($5)
P: #60 Gurkha Signature 101 Maduro ($6)
T: #11 Don Pepin Garcia Exclusivos ($7)
P: #62 Cohiba Red Dot Triangular ($8)
Let me know how this looks and I will have it off to ggiese tomorrow afternoon.
ggiese are you ready?
Generally speaking, all of the above. Pretty confusing ehhh? Your goal as a passer should be to make the pass better. In this example, a $9 Red Dot for a $9 Opus doesn't make the pass any better. Over time making the call becomes easier. If you stick to the addage, make the pass better, then you will be doing good.

BTW - Dollar for dollar - red dot and Opus X are similar. Rarity for rarity - not even close.
New p/t's -

Ultimately, it is up to the pass host. The host "should" stipulate wether it is MSRP for MSRP, ISOM for ISOM, Rareity for Rareity, all of the above, what ever he/she decides. As long as he is consistent through out. Over time making the call becomes easier. If you stick to the addage, make the pass better, then you will be doing good.

I suggest using the lowest online price available to figure out the value of any one cigar. Local prices should not be used as it factors in Brick an Mortar markup and state taxes. Also, cigar weekly has a list of MSRP's if you absolutley can not find any price on a cigar. One caveat, CW's database can be rater old on some cigars and does not factor market demand.
Emodx. Has it right.
When I pick up sticks I search the net for the best deal, that is not to say I can find them at MSRP. Some members on CP have that privilege, most do not.
While I am also a New guy around CP, to keep things above board I will ask the experienced members to be the judge on all the puts and takes. This will help me and all the players in this pass.
Please post all comments and concerns, regarding this pass to the board. Insuring fairness.
Not sure if we are still doing that, but here goes
Takes
$7 LFD Limitado II
$7 LFD Lancero
$8 Opus #5
Puts
$7 La Aurora Preferido
$8 Anejo 48
$9 Anejo 49
Hope that looks about right to everyone. If anyone has any questions about them feel free to PM me. Thanks
Brandon
It still looks good to me, but I believe the MSRP on the LFD DL Lancero is $9/each. The sticks you are replacing it with are more than sufficient, though.
This is going to be the problem with posting MSRP for cigars. 4 People might have 4 different opinions on what MSRP should be for a cigar. This is why I recommended to Jay that we not do this. I don't know that it has ever been done in a pass, and do not think it is necessary. I will let him decided on this since it is his pass, but I think the experience members can look at the P/T and tell if they are adequate or not. The LFD Lanceros can be found any time for $150 box.
Brandon
I Have not seen MSRP listed as Brandon said.
This is a first for most of the guys in the pass. With all the eyes on this, I really don't see the need to give are Blessing, on each person's P/T.
If anyone has a question about P/T Ask others in the pass or another FOG on the board.
Myself, I like that, are Experienced members, Brandon,George,Emo are on board, I will look to there council. Becouse I am new myself. :whistling: .
