Well, I still think Morton's is the best choice.

Is the Del Friscos or Del Frescos or whatever as well know as a reputable as Mortons?

I'm not sure if they have quite as many restaurants, but they are a similar operation with about 6-8 restaurants in the major metropolitan areas. If I remember right, the Del Frisco's in Vegas has a cigar lounge with lockers for members and all that. They also, just like most high end steakhouses, are some type of award winner from Wine Spectator. The cellar at the Vegas location is quite impressive (isn't everything in Vegas?) and they have a private dining room that shares a glass wall with it.

But that's not to say that Morton's isn't a great place as well. I think I've only eaten at the Vegas location once and it was good.

Mortons is a top notch restaurant.
But i still prefer Gibson's.

These are 2 of the top steakhouses in Chicago.

But for some reason the Steak from Delmonico still wins me over. I have to say it is the best steak I have eaten. And I have eaten alot of steak in my lifetime.

I keep hearing good things about del frisco's

I always see their ads in Cigar aficianado..CHicago magazine and other high end magazines. I think they even are ZAGAT survey awarded. I think i might have to try it also.

More good news.

I have one more sponsor/vendor who has also pledged some items for the Herf.

We are now 4/4.

Once again thank you to the sponsors/vendors.

Come on guys still plenty of time to book.

This should be one heck of a good time.

As soon as ROD has the CIgar Pass Herf website up. He will name the Vendors/Sponsors.

Instead of a boring steak house, why not French cuisine?

I've heard rave reviews about Pamplemousse. You can still get your freakin's steaks if you want BUT you also have some other choices like rack of lamb, veal medallions, roast duckling and probably a fish selection or two. They have a "Hobo Steak" which is pretty cool, it's a prime rib that is enough for TWO people served in an Armagnac sauce  (Armagnac is a French brandy not as widely known as Cognac but it's just as good as Cognac, some of us even like it more!) The prices are very reasonable.

There's also Andre's but it's much more pricey.

Now I hope you can make it. I don't want to be the only East Coaster there. Mother's day doesn't work for me and this is perfect, I'm combining family and Herfing. Plus I do like French Cuisine!

edited for typo

Pamplemousse is OUTSTANDING. it is not exaclty centrally located, though. Some of the best French food I have eaten outside of France, and I am pretty damn demanding of French cuisine.

That said, Delmonicos had the best steak, IMHO. I no longer eat steak, but at Delmonico's, I just might (just like I almost ordered Hillbilly's jerky!)

Whetever you do, I'm sure it will be amazing. If I wasn't going to be on my honeymoon, I would absolutely join you fellas in Vegas for the weeeknd.

Edit: There is also always Bouchon, Thomas keller's restaurant...if you want to go a little crazy. God, I love eating in Vegas. And smoking, and drinking, and gambling, and eating, and drinking, and smoking.....

Yo, Matty... do we have an update on the attendees or is the list in the first post still accurate? (I don't see Rod's name...)

What kind of things are we looking for as far as prizes? I can come up with a few interesting things, not cigar related.

Ok, so a trip to the visit the Bunnies ain't cheap.

But...I like BIG cigars!

How far is Reno from Las Vegas? Can't you get better deals with respect to hotels, meals, etc. in Reno? I'm pretty sure the casinos in Reno have lower limits for most table games AND they have blackjack tables with ONE deck instead of EIGHT like they use here at the two Indian casinos in Connecticut.

I've always wanted to go to Reno.

Reno is approx. 7 and a half hours north, so that makes it a hell of a roadtrip. However, my palatial estate is on the way to Reno, only 7 hours away from there. :p

has anyone checked the Member Map It seems that more of the members of CigarPass live closer to the East Coast....

Maybe it would be better if it was moved to the NY area.... Maybe get a bigger crowd.... West Coast guys could fly here for the weekend....

Ya know, Tommy might be on to something.......

New York is just about the easiest place in the country to travel to and the public transportation is fantastic. There are MANY venues for smoking cigars AND if any of you guys REALLY feel the need to gamble, just take a short road trip up to Connecticut and visit the largest casino in the World, FOXWOODS and/or the Mohegan Sun!!!

Hell, when stogieman and hudsonvalley threw together a herf two weeks ago, there were over FIFTY people there.

As Tommy mentioned, there are far more members of CigarPass on the east coast than in Nevada.

An East Coast (New York City) area herf would most definitely draw a larger crowd than something in Las Vegas on Memorial Day weekend. I don't know about you but my favorite holiday parades are Memorial Day rather than July 4th because they are more somber and meaningful events that honor our fallen soldiers. Maybe other parts of the country are different but here in the northeast, we have HUGE Memorial Day parades and I really don't want to miss the one in Hampton that I've been going to for over 20 years.

Just a thought....

Rod has Failed to RSVP yet.. :)

as far as switching the place..lets us not forget the fine BOTL's in Arizona, utah, and californai....who live less than 5 hours away...PLan an east coast Herf if you want CC..knock youself out!

I will now go back to bieng sick

I think a number of folks have already made reservations, so it might be a bit late to start trying to change the venue or dates, again. Maybe an east coast herf could be planned later in the year, then this could be a semi-annual thing. I would think the fall would be a real nice time to visit the New England area.

Sunday I was at the herf at CigarKing - had to be over 30-40 people there!!! I know LOL herf is close by - but maybe some thought should be given to something in Chicago. After all, Chicago is damn near in the center of the country - and I know it's incredibly convenient for Hale and Alex!!!
