Ah HA, here I am. I have been waaaaay too busy with political campaigns lately to even breathe and I honestly haven't even digested the full content of this thread.
I am of the opinion that anyone here is not out of line to comment on a pass even if they are not a participant. In the case of my pass, I stated right up front that CohibaSurfer would be watching this pass because it was my way of saying "Be careful and mindful of your puts and takes because you may be called on it by a more experienced member"
Oh gee, I may be the post padding king here BUT I have never hosted a pass before and this is/was going to be a learning experience for me. I was hoping the some of the more experienced members here (like CS) would be kind enough to keep an eye on things and yep, put their two cents in if they thought they should
I'll tell ya right now, I learned right off the bat that I included too many high end domestics, ones that are darn near impossible to give and equal put for if you take them. I mean really, what do you replace a PAM 1926 #1 with, a PAM Millenium? Who the hell has those (other than Moki) and if they did why on earth would they trade a $35.00+ cigar for a $20.00 cigar?
Secondly, I should have realized that I was really too busy at this time of the year to host a pass due to my time commitments with my local campaigns and I wasn't even following the thread.
CS was kind enough to PM me and suggested that I review the pass to see what I thought. I didn't take a real close look at it but it did seem that a couple of "fancy" stick were replaced by lesser sticks which prompted my generic post and I then urged CS to offer any opinions he may have.
I've been receiving quite a few PM's and the opinions of members are all over the lot. Okay, I should have spent a little more time figuring out exactly where I thought the discrepancies were and addressed it through PM but I didn't. Again, a learning experience.
Yep passes can be a hastle but I'm of the opinion that this site is called CIGAR PASS and active members should consider involving themselves in passes and trades
I dunno, I think everything worked out just fine, this is a learning experience for the new passers, the new hosts (ME) where we can take guidance and advice from the more experienced members here and ROTFL when SamClemmons checks in :sign:
