Now this is why I joined CP, the laughter, honest ceegar sharing, good friendships, mouseketeers, LOL..... :D  :p
Great post Michael and I'm glad that things are gettin' back to normal again, well at least back the way things were. :D

Can I be a mouse....whatever that word was!?!?!?!?!?!?!

And Cohiba, I think the **** stirer comment was a sexual refernce not that you are a trouble maker! :p

j/k

I couldn't agree with you more. It is about good friends, new friends, cigars you would like to try that you never had and it should absolutely never be about coming out on top!

Unless once again you are making a sexual reference! :p

To be honest with you I have taken sticks from dog rocket bags in passes and found smokes that were interesting and that I have since smoked again.

And no you bunch of smart a$$es this is not a comment on my Cigar preferences...I enjoy El Productos with the rest of you!!!! :p

Michael....I do find it interesting no one has come to defend their side of this argument! ??? I believe they realize they have a baseless defense.

As for your comments on passes, I do agree! At some point, HOPEFULLY, more and more members will get it. Then we can get back to the brotherhood we all enjoy!!

And I didn't say, "...get it..." to start that whoe thread again!! LMAO!!!

Good job, Michael!

This has got to be one of the best threads in quite some time. I haven't seen anything I've disagreed with yet. Heck, I was even thinking the same thing Jeff said in his response and am a little bummed I didn't see this thread sooner so I could have beaten him to it. :D

Michael does a great job of watching out for all his bros around here and were lucky to have him on the case.

I know for myself I have even purchased stuff just to have something good to trade with in a pass and I know for a fact friends of mine in the pass I hosted last fall went out shopping just to play in my pass despite me warning them not to. You do NOT get ahead in a pass.

The point about box buyers trading was good plus it's a chance to broaden your horizions and see what people from other parts of the country have to trade with. I live in an extreamly rural area so my local choices are very limited and most of what I pick up out side of passes is just from the net. It's always great when a pass arrives to see all the sticks in person that I've never even seen before at all. By the time the pass I hosted got back to me it was an avalanche of great new sticks I'm still digging out from under months later now. I still have tons of stuff in my humi I've never tried yet.

Passes are fun and it's the responsibility of member of this site to keep them that way by protecting the spirit of the pass.

I think this is a great point for newbies to understand. I'm talking about brand spanking new newbies that have never done a pass. I've loved the passes I've participated in because I've been able to meet new CPers through the process. Hell shipping alone of those monster boxes makes it a bad deal for the sticks you take out.

I totally agree, you do it for the fun and the interaction with people that share an interest with you.

By the way, PhatAsh, that sexual reference comment was too fricken funny :D !

***If anyone is interested I have official JoeM.keteers shirts for sale.

Not enough emoticons. Need that one from CW with the little bowing guy.

Passes are fun, but by no means "profitable." It's quite a feeling when the PO man comes and drops off a motherload of a package at your doorstep. Sure, it's not all for you, but that feeling of "whooo! what's inside?" is unparallel.

 to cohibasurfer for starting this thread. (wow, did I just say that?!) :p

Yes Phishy, you did ;)

And I agree!!

There was some talk not too long ago about passes should return home with the same $Value as when it left, and on that same line, wth the same # of sticks. I do not agree. Unless the Pass originator makes it the rule to do $for$ StickforStick, then Phooy on that. And even in rare cases Like Moki's PMM Pass, say don't worry about the dollor amount, cause value is more than just $.

Here is what I think, as a pass participant, one should make damn sure that what they Put to replace a Take is worth more than the take. That way you know you are safe. I know for myself, there are a lot of sticks that are valued a lot less than the BTL, that I would much rather have, so if it is MY pass, that is one of the things I would stipulate when asked about trding for this elusive cigar. But anyone elses pass, one needs to find out the value (a combo of MSRP + Rarety) and then top it in a single cigar to put in.

It would be nice to have a database where you could search on the words Anejo Shark and get a list of acceptable replacements, but their isn't. (am opportunity for someone to create what would be a high maintanence database :sneaky: ) That being the case...better safe than sorry, go large or don't take the Shark.

And then if you want to up the total stick count AFTER you have done good trades on the P&T, you should add sticks that are either something you know others in the pass or the Captain would want, or something that is in Keeping with the overall Quality level of the pass.

Geez, I think I have rehashed enough previously posted thoughts here!

have Fun, do a good job, and  your Brother GarGuys

LOL@ Phatashes post. Chris you deffinately can't be a Mouseketeer with a mind set like that bro! However... your a likely candidate for Catholic Priest hood....LOL! :p

Thanks for all the posts and jokes. You guys are the reason CP is... CP!

Ric.... Extra Large on the shirt for me! :p

Now back to a serious post. I don't know if it's just me ... But!

I don't think it's very productive to say "nice play" if you don't mean it. I'm not talking just about the pass originators either. Some people just want to post pad... or want to be the first to add something, so the say nice going, without even checking things out. I know alot of you could care less what happens as long as it's almost good. But not every play is deserving of a standing ovation either. Sometimes a simple "that's fair" would work. And when something looks alittle short, an honest, " I don't think so" would help everyone. Heck, I could sure use a little more help! :) I know when I started here, I made some terrible plays thinking it was good. And when I got the Ok... didn't matter who it was from, hell I actually thought it was. I still get embarrassed when I look back at my unintentional bungles! I wish someone would have surrendered my feelings and slapped a knot on my head. Ohh by the way, it's to late now :p

Now no-one take this personal, as I am just posting this for discussion sake. But if you think I'm talking about you, and you want to call me names... you can ... if ... you raise your hand first. ;)

Nice post.

I mean, that's fair.

seriously though, when this post has been exhausted, it should definately be pinned. Well done, CS.

Geez, how did I miss this post for so long?

Ditto everything that CS said.

Oh, and "Well Done", "Nice Post" :p

Dave ;)

Dave, you've been placed on double-secret probation for not knowing what the heck is going on!

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaa :sign: :sign: :sign:

Ummmm, you just TOLD me I'm on double-secret-probation. Doesn't that sort of negate the "double-secret" part of it?
Dave :p

Dave's got a point there.

Daves status has now changed....please walk away....nothing to see here. :sneaky:

I'll even go along with Michael on the comments part to a degree. Posts in the thread though should be nothing but positive I think. If it's a neutral comment then why bother and if it's negative then it should be PM only. We want to keep things friendly afterall. Every put I make I ask for PM help if I messed up in some way. I want to be a fair guy, heck, I want to be a generous guy, I don't want to make a mistake and hose a buddy. I would think though it would be way better recieved to get the help in PM then as a post.

I know I'm personally guilty of nice play comments when I have ended up wrong, but it's because I thought it was on the surface and didn't put in the research to make sure that some do. I really shouldn't say if I don't actually know, but it's human nature to want to praise a buddy.

If it's close I'm not going to raise much of a fuss. This is all about having fun and looking up prices and adding up colums to find a 2 or 3 dollar error just isn't fun for me. If it's a big rip off then I'll pm the host or the passer or both and then let them work it out in pm's from there.

In the last pass I was in I very easily could have made an error on the Perdomo De Silvio if I didn't just happen to actually know as much about them as I did. After all, Perdomo isn't exactly well know for super premium sticks or very limited productions. If I hadn't known I might have made an error and needed a little help. I would have been very grateful for a pm politly pointing me in the right direction on it. As it was I replaced it with a stick of equal value, but not exactly sure if it was equal rarity. I asked for pm help in my post if I was wrong and I hope I would have recieved it if I indded was wrong on that point.

I have been a little disapointed recently though with the lack or respect some people have been showing each other on our little site here. I'm not singling out newbies, Fog's or Mods either for that matter. Even if profanity isn't used it's still more then a little unseamly to be calling each other stupid on the open boards in public and hardly the type of thing to foster brotherhood, or even bring around the unknowlegable and help them become more wise in the ways of the leaf. I am in no way talking about good natured fun. What good does it do to just make someone mad. It's not going to make them more likely to listen to you or be more receptive to your point of view. It's just going to make them mad and contribute to the overall ill will that has been increasing so much around here as of late. I understand things spilling over out of PM's onto the boards, but we should avoid that as much as possible and only resort to it in last resorts. Shuji's problems were a prime eaxample of something that had to come out in the open for all to chime in on and probably should have much sooner then it did.

I know what one of the biggest resoponses is going to be. "I'm just telling it like it is and not sugar coating it." Thats all just fine. I am very much in favor of honesty, even honesty thats tough to hear sometimes. But theres always a respectul way of doing it, and the respectful way is more likely to yeild results.

Rod can work on the site all he wants, but the tone and atmosphere will be up to us and us alone that participate. We have to decide what kind of site we want to hang out in.

Yeah guys, I don't know why some of you have to be like gibu is mentioning. It's Raw and callous. Not to mention ugly!
