I can't tell you how many times I've seen, and participated in those useless who's the greatest guitar player threads. Steve Morse, who's won 8 consecutive Guitar Player magazine, Guitar Player of the year awards, and Rory Block are never mentioned. Yet a case can easily be made for either one. Shure, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton are good players, but really, what are these folks listening to.

I'll probably get struck by lightning for this, but I have never liked Hendrix.
Clapton is among my favorites. I can think of several guitar players whom I feel should get more nods than they do.

I'll have to check out Steve Morse and Rory Block. Nothing comes to mind. Thanks.

Odetta gave Rambling Jack his nick name, but not because he was well traveled. It was because he was unable to shut up.

The Meters were nominated for the R&R HoF. They were beat out by Kiss.o_O The R&R HoF can kiss my ass.

He's great. Trivia: That guitar he's holding was made during one of the world wars for the troops. I.e., something for them to play while overseas. I think the story went that the war was over by the time they went into production. He said it was a great sounding instrument.

There's two you tube videos of him on the Tonite show, one of him talking about it and one of him playing it.

Well no, they're a funk band. According to what I hear they and James Brown kind of invented it. James Brown is in the Hall, I hope.
