I forgot to tell her I was planning on trying the smoked version, and she went crazy with holiday cooking while we were snowboarding. So a “friendly” spousal competition? Nice

That is a great idea! Sounds amazing!
Oh man, it's sooooo good. I think more because the sugar in the rub I used in the seasoning than the smoke, but it's really good. That is a great idea! Sounds amazing!
So I’ve been considering doing this for awhile. Tips on doing a whole bird? I got a 25 bird in the freezer and trying to decide to do this or smoke it.Just dropped a 10lb turkey breast in the deep fryer, garlic butter injection with an assortment of spices for a dry rub

If you smoke it spatchcock it, might want to thaw first. So I’ve been considering doing this for awhile. Tips on doing a whole bird? I got a 25 bird in the freezer and trying to decide to do this or smoke it.
Either way it seems pretty large for either. I have a burner and a large stock pot but it might not be big enough for a 25 lb’er. How do you know how much oil to put in for a big bird?
That’s a big bird. What I do is put the bird in the pot fill it with water where it just barely covers the bird, then remove the bird and then you can mark where the water settles and you have your oil line. Of course you have to completely thaw the bird. You could remove legs and wings to make smaller as well and just do the breast. So I’ve been considering doing this for awhile. It was delicious. Pretty damn good for my first ever time doing that. Some room for improvement but if they came out the same as the first attempt, there would be no complaints.Looks like a winner to me! Address in my profile.
The only way our KJ happened was due to Christmas and the need to replace a 12 grill.I’ve often wanted to try a kamodo or a bge. Then I show the wife the costs of such things and it fizzles out. We are on the 7th or 8th year of our broil king and I know it needs new burners so I may have to try again.
I’ll probably get new grates this year for the smoker too. I have no idea how old that one is, maybe 10 years now?
Aaron, at least you had great good. Sorry your team lost.Getting ready for the only game that matters today. Go Cowboys! Wings on the egg
