Sweet! I'm going to shoot for the stars on my first wish, and will update the list if I can't get a bite my tomorrow night. So without further ado, I wish for:

Opus BBMF
Padron Millennium
VSG ER
Flor Fina 858 LVR
Padron Reserva de la Familia

Not that I don't think these are great cigars to wish for, but didn't we have a discussion somewhere towards the beginning of this thread about not asking for super HTF cigars when you just granted a wish for something quite ordinary? I don't know, Davidoff Millenium Lancero = $17 (in stock at any number of shops), any one of the above cigars = $40+.

If you can find them at all.

I should re-phrase what I wrote. It looks like this was your first time participating in this deal, so I seriously doubt you would have read through all 119 pages worth of this thread (I know I wouldn't), hence you wouldn't have seen the discussion we had about not asking for ridiculous cigars when what you granted was ordinary. In other words, your wish should be somewhat in line with what you granted.

Hence no one granting his wish! If someone wanted to grant him one of those cigars I really don't see what business of yours it is. He has the right to ask and if some one wants to grant it they have the right to as well. Since no one has, he will as numerous others have rewish for something more realistic.

Gee, thanks Jayro for putting me in my place. How silly of me to bring attention to the possibility of someone taking advantage of our generosity for their own gain. Thanks again for setting me strait.

My problem with the whole thing is that It holds up the pass, when you put more realistic cigars in the wish list it is able to go much faster. Take a look at how fast it was a few wishes ago. I can totally understand, your point that he has the right to post up his wish, but If someone was going to grant his wish, it most likely will be granted within 6 to 12 hours (many times a lot sooner). After that Keeping it up there just slows this great thread down, which is why I think the HTF cigars wishes after granting a Not so HTF cigar sort of frustrates some people . just my thought on it.

It's my pleasure! Way to miss the rest of the post Gonz!!

The nice thing about self moderated boards is that in a thread like this one, this issue has already been debated, and a decorum has developed. If you had read the 100+ pages, you'd know that. Gonz was quite nice in how he pointed this out. If your argument is because you think "rediculous" is too visceral, get over it.

Jayro, it's pretty simple. We already had the discussion and it was decided that it was bad form to ask for something way beyond what you had just granted. In fact, it's even posted in the rules on the very first post of this thread. But I guess that would be too much to ask of you right, you know, reading the rules?

1. You don't need to read through 119 pages. Everything you need is in post #1. Here, let me make it easy on you all:

...
5. Generally speaking, it's in poor taste to ask for something ultra rare and expensive when you've granted a wish for something much more modest. Sometimes you might get lucky but you don't want to hold up the thread for challenging wishes although there is no limit to what you may wish for.
...
2. Jayro, it is the business of all players to keep an eye on things, make sure all is on the up and up, and occasionally remind and refresh us on the rules. A little politeness on all of our parts can only help to keep this MaW-PIF going in good fun and spirit. No one needs to police this thread if we all do our part. And one more thing, stow the attitude and sarcasm. Gonz was right to speak up.

Wilkey

I was hoping for a little less optimistic wish also. I could have granted a couple of wishes in the last few but missed my chance. I have no chance of granting this one. It was really moving nicely too.

This is just like a woot-killer.

I'll say I'm sorry for the attitude you didn't deserve that, but the fact stands that he does have the right to ask for the hard to find cigars even if it's in poor form. As the rules, which I have read state.

1. You may make a wish for any cigar keeping in mind that the rarer it is, the less likely someone might be able to step up and fulfill your wish.

Then maybe this should be changed to read: unless you are asking for 3 times more MSRP than the cigar you gifted...

You're quite right, he can. We are then perfectly within our rights to say "neener neener" and call him an idiot for posting in bad form. Or, in this case, it was politely pointed out because it was an innocent mistake and you are the one being obstinate.

I can live with that. Consistency in the enforcement of rules should be the goal here. Unfortunately it seems rules are enforced on those with lower post counts and more recent member dates. if a FOG made that same wish after granting a similar cigar no one would've said a word.

Thats because 9 times out of 10, they wouldnt do that. I have been here for over 4 months now, I have never seen any FOG's or older respectable members do anything way. I am not backing anyone, but by stating that a FOG has all this power is not true. They have alot of say over the boards, but the reason they do is because, they are willing to be more giving than receiving like some of us newbies.

The key to this or any pass is making sure the exchange of the cigars is equitable and generally equivalent. If someone doesn't know what equitable is, then they need to educate themselves or ask a more experienced member.

In the past there have been newer members that have tried to take advantage (no Nate I am not saying you are doing this) of the generosity of this place. Therefore, self-policing occurs.

Bear in mind a FOG most likely wouldn't be called on this because they usually have the ammo to grant a high end wish, so they grant that wish because they are generous. Therefore they could ask for another HTF. Also, there are at times a bit of a sliding scale on the board. FOGs have earned their stripes many times over, and therefore may be given a bit more latitude.

You are 100% wrong in your assumption. Why don't you go ahead and give some examples of the FOG's breaking the rules and getting away with it? How many more times are you going to step on your dick in this thread?

Hey! I get a pass here more often than not and you know why jayro75? It's not because of longevity, it's because I'm not an idiot. You however, don't have that luxury.
