Recommendation Of Cheap Cigars

Cheap cigars aren't worth it.
....he's right. Smoking a full size cigar represents an investment in time, and the last thing I want when I decide to make that investment is to be disappointed by a cigar that just doesn't get it done.

As mentioned, Padron 2000's can be had for under three bucks a stick if you wait for the sales, and that's as "cheap" as I go anymore.

FWIW - YMMV - etc.....B.B.S.

On one hand I couldn't agree more, the ritual that is created by smoking a great cigar with good company or by yourself with the beverage of choice is second to none.

On the other hand, there are many times when I want to smoke a cigar and simply can't indulge in the entire ritual i.e. golfing, standing around a campfire with the guys, limited amount of time, etc. and having a nice selection of $2 - $3 sticks is a must!

Plus, if he can't afford $10 sticks, he just can't afford them. And I would rather have a nice $2 stick than none at all.

Agreed. I've been very pleased with the Perdomo Remainders line from Famous. A bundle of 20 can be anywhere from $20 to $40 depending on size. They're apparently discontinued though, so get 'em while you still can!

Quote of the month for me :) It describes me perfectly. Almost got in a 4 car pile up on the highway yesterday too. I was on my way home from a business trip and car after car just kept rear ending eachother and I was next. Luckily I avoided it and swerved and only hit a construction cone. If I rear ended someone I would really be in a lot of financial trouble.

Anyways, thanks for the recommendations and I will continue to research them.

Check out Cbid.com, though it's addictive. I like the Padron Ks for around $3 a stick. These are full-flavoured cigars with great draw.

I just got JRs new catalog. Some of you recommended the CAO Golds as a creamy good cigar. They are a little pricey for me right now. Has anyone tried the JR CAO Gold Alternatives? They are only $21 for a bundle of 20. Also for $10 more when you buy any JR Alternative bundle you get a 50ct Humidor, maybe this would be a good way to get a humidor again. I wanted to get a 75-100ct glass top but can't afford it right now.

This is what I have decided to try
CAO Gold Alternatives (If recommended by you)
Consuegra #9s
Sancho Panza La Mancha double maduro

Thanks

the jr cao alternatives were jsut plain nasty !!! It was so bad, I threw mine out. Man, if I would have known u then, I would have saved a few to try.

Bummer, not the answer I was looking for. I guess CAO golds are out. Guess I could get a bundle of Connie #9s or Sancho's. Flor de Oliva was recommended too but have never tried one. Did a search and found that many weren't impressed. I went to my local today and they had none of the above.

Don't listen to the snobs.

Cheap cigars can be very good IF you know what to get AND are willing to age them a bit. Remember, taste is subjective. For example, some may not like the ERDM Robusto Larga but it is very popular and at $60 a box at Atlantic, they are cheap cigars!
Steve

Who are the "snobs" of which you speak? ???

Hmmmm, sounds okay to me.

I did look at their selection but nothing really interested me but then again, I'm a "cigar snob" anyway.

cigargoyle, you may consider asking Rod, the site admin, to change your screen name to papacigar.

Just an idea....

Just last night I had a La Vieja Habana by Drew Estates and was pleasantly surprised by it. I picked a couple of them up on the recommendation of the proprietor of my favorite B&M, (a real "Tower" of cigar knowledge) at less than $3.00 a stick. They can be had for 2.00 or less on line.

No offense but if you're in a finacial strangle hold cigars are the last thing you should be endulging in.

The best recommendation for you is to go down to your local tobacco shop and talk to them. Ask them for a few recommendations and buy a single or two. Everyone here has an opinion of whats good and what taste like a horses ass. YOU are the only person that can decide what YOU like.

I don't enjoy smoking cheapo smokes. The large majority of them don't taste good and the consistency is non-existant. If I were in your position, I'd ditch the urge to start collecting smokes again and just go down to the shop when I have an extra $10 and buy myself a decent stick once a week or so. Collecting sticks is so addictive, I think it's the last thing you'd probably want to get into.

Listen I have the answer for a great smoke cheap. We bought a bundle of these and when people come over we give them out and smoke them with them. They say they are apprentice rolled fuentes.

great value for the price.

tampa sweethearts

They say they are apprentice rolled fuentes.

From the site you linked to:

"...blends of tobacco entirely different from the premium cigars. Tampa Sweethearts cigars are not seconds of Arturo Fuente®, Montesino®, or Flor de Ybor City® cigars."

Seconds are cigars that don't meant quality standards because of patching (not likely on Fuente ;) ), plugs, underfilling, etc. Apprentice rolled cigars are cigars that people training to be able to roll Fuente cigars roll, they are not rejects from the normal batch.

I just got the Sancho Panza's that GMCCCGUY generously sent me to try and he actually included a Tampa Sweethearts so I am looking forward to that as well.

Based on recommendations I said screw it and went and got a CAO Gold at my local, couldn't resist the urge to try a creamy cigar. It wasen't really the creamy I was intending but I guess everyone's taste is different. The first half was great, the next 1/4 was ok and the final 1/4 was quite harsh IMO. Overall I thought it was a good cigar but not worth the $8 I paid for it. Welp, back to $1-2 sticks for a while again :)

If you need a cheap humidor check out Holts.
They have a 50ct. humi for $19.95 (plus shipping I presume)
They have minor flaws.

Here's the link:

http://www.holts.com/category.html?id=183628&trail=86666

Go to the bottom of the page.

You can get great deals on cigars at cbid. Be disciplined,
bid early and have patience. (Like everyone else...LOL)

Keep your eye on www.cigarmonster.com for some affordable smokes, too.
Not all of the Monster deals are inexpensive smokes, but many are.

Chemyst

I saw that humidor but am bummed because they are all out of the large one that was only $20 as well.

BTW:
I keep getting new PMs, at the top of the page it says "2 New Messages" when I click on it or go into my profile there are no new ones. It has been like this for over a week. If someone PMs me I cannot see it. Anyone know why?

Thanks
