Newbie Pass 101

The pass showed up this afternoon. I'll open it up and inspect after dinner. I have some P/Ts I'm still trying to work out and will update later tonight.
 
OK, I'm next. Digging in.....getting those puts and takes together. Leave a few for me engspot.

I unpacked everything and spread it all out. There was quite a bit of condensation in the container so I wiped the whole thing out. It was all outside the bag so the cigars all look to be in good shape.

Let me know what you guys think of these proposed P/T's:

T-12) Flor de Ybor City No. 270 ($3.33)

I tried to get the Tatuajes to line up in both price and rarity, but it's much harder than I thought. $13 is an odd price to try and match up to! I also had a rough time finding pricing on the JdN classico No. 1 and settled on $5 based on the original price of the claro warpped at Holt's. If I need to revise, please let me know.

Alan, I think those look good. Funny, I had my eye on the Ybor City and that was going to be my exact put!!! I enjoy how you "show your work" with the prices. A few have done that in currently running passes I've been watching and it helps my learning curve a lot! Curious on your pricing for the second group?

Like Bayamos, curious about the lone put?

The lone put is for 2 reasons...I had 2 overputs by a few dollars and I had to estimate pricing on the 2nd set.

The price for the JdN was hard to find anywhere. Holts has the classico claro no. 1 for $5 each before sale and I could only find other vitolas for the classico line on other sites. I received the cx2 in a trade and did a quick google search for price. The cx2 seems less common than the other CAO lines. I couldn't use one of the more common price sources, but $5 was commonly mentioned in review and at Thompsons.

I was hoping the MF toro could help offset my adding value to the pass. I don't want to contribute to inadvertantly price people out of the pass near the end.

Matching prices was harder than I thought it would be. I can revise any of my P/Ts if there's an issue or if I can get some clarity to resolve a disparity.

Correct me if I'm wrong here guys, but I thought I had read somewhere that adding additional sticks can not make up for underputs on other P/T's. For example, 3 $3 cigars can not be traded for 1 $9 cigar.

However with the pricing here being so close maybe this is okay? In the end this is Jake's call.

I would like to add however that I have seen, after looking through currently running and past passes, that participants can add extra sticks into a pass even though nothing is being taken. Not sure what the rule is for this pass when it comes to that, I couldn't find anything in the original post.

edit: after re-reading the past post, I see what you're talking about now. It seems you've added the MF toro to help others in the line have more of a chance to match pricing.

The only problem I had when I originally looked at this was the Face for Tat Black. You're (in my rating system) jumping too many categories. An out of production, one time limited release for a constant production stick with only $1 to make up the difference. In my mind...$1 really walks a fine line in making up that difference....

I'll call it good, though.

The "fine line" comment doesn't leave a warm and fuzzy feeling and I'd like to make it better. Maybe I can walk a "thicker line"? I'll leave the MF Toro in there as our pass is severely lacking this fine brand, but I think I found a better Put.

I had a hard time finding if the Black Tubo was a regular release or a limited release and the quantity that were available. (Thanks for the explanation Jake) I can rework that Put to a Tat Black CG (Jar Release). NHC had MSRP at $13.00 ($247/19) and listed one-time production of 1000 jars of 19 ea. I actually forgot I had this one in the humidor and it seems like a better fit. I think that should meet the price and rarity factor.

That is a much better P/T with the Face for the Black CG jar release... Both very limited and sought after as well as equal price. Nicely done sir ! I know it is not easy swapping HTFs, but you did good. Enjoy that Face! ;)
 
OK, I repackaged everything and learned I have a long ways to go until I get my bubble-wrapping black belt.

My goal is to hit the PO first thing tomorrow morning and I'll post a DC# once the pass is back on the road.

That was a lot of fun and I learned something...I need to smoke the stuff in the bottom of my fridgeador!

What type of packaged special?

To determine the value, can you describe it in a little more detail. Did it come in a boxed set, with what other cigars, etc.
