Newbie Qs for the big man (Jake) .... I read the cover page again and saw nothing on Cub. cigars. Are Johnny-O! sticks allowed in this pass ?

Also, lets say I had my eye on a particular stick that averaged to be $ 6.82, and I planned on replacing it with a stick thats MSRP is $ 6.67. Now the stick I would like to put in at $ 6.67 was a LE and only 333 boxes of 15 were made. Clearly it's a HTF stick and a sought after one at that, so would that justify the slight shortage in that department ?

What are the rest of the community's thoughts on this ??

Yes, rarity makes up for pricing (to some extent).

ISOM's are not in this pass. In most of the passes I run, I allow ISOM's and NC's and cross P/T's for both...however, for this pass, there will be no ISOM's.

Not entirely clear on the Johnny O's, but I'll be an ass and assume not since they have unclear origins.

I asked about the Johnny-O!s because I had purchased a bundle a while back, and they were very good sticks. John's smokes are all custom rolled
and I believe that you can only get them thru the cigar forums. I was looking to throw one in the pass to let someone try, but I guess they are considered ISOM. Therefore no good in this pass... No biggie.


I must be honest. I had a rough time with the matching up sticks, for all I have in my humidor is HTF Tats and a few A.F.s. :laugh: I really need to break my habit of "stocking up" on the HTF's and try focusing on the many other brands/regular releases. I try to buy different sticks when I can afford to go to my local B&M (NY prices) but then I see a box of El Triunfador Lancero O.R. under newer boxes with only four left. Thats a 3 yr. old stick. Easy decision! I guess you just like what you like.

Just curious why you don't think your original P/T doesn't fly? From what I can see the SS Maduro has a pricing of about $6.60, while the Tat has a price of about $7.65 (that's what my research shows).

It seems to me your second option is more of a overput than the first one, $5.98 for the DPG $7.65 for the Tat.

I think he's factoring in rarity. The SS maduro was released publicly only one time (recently in 2011) and only 1000 boxes were made. That gives it about the rarity of a tatuaje Halloween release. I do not believe there is plans for a future release, at least, nothing has been mentioned publicly.

I have heard from several sources that the SS maduros are expected to be an once a year, annual release. However, no one has been able to confirm this. With that in mind, I would have to agree with Jake. But then again, the fact that I can still find SS maddies at many local B&M's with little effort says they're not really that hard to find, even if they are a limited release.

I'm surprised to learn that about the SSMs. They must not sell very fast or AAFES has a sweet deal with AF for them since they are always available in the PX and post gas stations.

I wasn't aware that the SS maddy was going to be as limited. I thought they were going to be a more regular production (similar to the Anejo release schedule). So I can see what he is thinking about with the rarity factor playing into the P/T.

I was... When you had asked the Q about the Black PL, I had realized the rarity issue. I should have dove deeper into that theory/rumor of the SS Maddie in soon being a regular release but I too could not find anything concrete stating that it would be. Therefore I started to doubt my proposed P/T. I realized I had made a mistake. I would like to propose this as my new P/T:

You're free to change the P/T if you so choose. I was just instigating a bit of discussion. If this is what you want though, it's good to go and is approved.

As far as the SS Maduro goes...it MIGHT be a continuous, annual release like the WOAM and other Hemingway maduros...I never said with 100% certainty it wasn't, I just know the production for this year. Until we can confirm or deny either way...I go on the side of caution.

You are correct, I calculated wrong on my first go around. I still see a little difference from what you have as price though. Here is what I have...

Serious Cigars - $5.40
SmokeInn - 6.71
Holt's - 6.80
Average Stick Price - 6.30

Just curious as to what your sources were to get the $6.82?

My final decision on the 2nd P/T was to take the Don Pepin Garcia Blue, and replaced it with the Tat PL . Just to clear things up...
