I’m perfectly willing to give all the necessary phone number info, etc. if you’re uneasy about it. I’ve dealt with Joe.M….and two unsuspecting brothers should be posting in complete surprise to my fist pair of bombskees by Tuesday (the secret is that I’ve already listed their identities in my profile, but don’t tell anyone OK? :sneaky: )

I’ve recently replenished my stock and am rearing to get going on a pass (well, two, including Other Mike’s) if you’ll allow me the opportunity.

What do you mean "hopefully bettered"? Do you even understand what the point of having a pass is? A pass is a oppurtunity for people to try some different cigars and to exchange what they take with "equal" or "greater" valued smokes. Equal being all that one is required to do. Just because it's common for people to put more than they take or even add some better cigars to the pass doesn't mean you throw a pass to "better" your stock or even try to build a larger one. I can't believe anyone even is willing to sign up for this thing...knowing your intentions. I know you're getting drilled over at CD for your "Selling smokes to buy books" sale, but it's becoming clear that you either "don't get it" or you blatently take advantage of generosity.

Let's look at the story:

1. You're broke: You decide to throw a pass. You clearly state your hopeful intentions of "bettering" your stock. Throw in your whole humidor...maybe all these generous people will send you twice as many cigars that are even better than you sent out. After all, you're not going to be buying any cigars for awhile, so what a great way to get some free smokes. You probably deserve it for all the work it takes to package up the box, print up sheets, and mail it out? This doesn't seem wrong to you?

2. You're still broke. So your trying to sell cubans to "raise" money for books. These cigars may or may not have been gifted to you. If not...why were you buying over priced cigar in the first place...knowing you had to buy books for the new semester at some point? Then you are even willing to try and sell these cigars(over priced) on the same boards that have shown you nothing but generousity. Cp members should pay the expense because you over paid for smokes and you didn't budget your money for college books? Again, This doesn't seem wrong to you?

3. You're publicly known to be broke: You sign up for the CPFFL...give the sob story about needing to buy books (again) and offer to trade cigars (that again, may or may not have been gifted to you) for someone to pay your entry fee. There are 16 teams in the league 15 paid the entry...hmmmmmm? Is this a coincedence?


This doesn't just look bad...it is bad.


Any reasoning on why you think this is ok?
 
All the points you make are true dude. I cannot fault them.
So will just reply.

"Hopefully bettered" was/is an attempt to get a few more cigars in my small collection, but I would not care if people took 2 and left 2, or took a really good one and left a few not-as-good (but better than dog-rocket :D ) ones.

As for the "pass", I just want to do one. I think it would be cool as I have enjoyed being in on other passes.

1. True, I am pretty much broke right now. Also want to send out all my smokes so that I do not have to pack them (I will be taking a greyhound bus instead of getting a ride in a car so will have less room.). nd for the "generous people out there", 'do not join my pass, also do not give extra' (There, now that that is in the thread do you feel better?)

2. Yes, I am still broke. THE CIGARS WERE NOT GIFTED TO ME. I EITHER TRADED A BUNCH WITH FRIENDS TO GET THEM OR SAVED UP TO BUY THEM. (i.e., did not go out to clubs on the weekends, did not rent from blockbuster. Only movies in theatres I have seen this summer: Bad Boys II (free ticket came with the first DVD), American Wedding (got a free pass to preview from radio station.), rented two movies once at Blockbuster.) I saved up to buy them.

I knew that I would have to buy books anyway. The thing is that Minnesota has cut the student aid money coming in to schools. I did work all summer to help pay for school. Would have been okay, but then found out about the cuts. That and FAFSA says I have to pay one K. more this year. Those additions raised it to be more than I expected.

I do admit to pricing these higher than they are sold at a bunch of places. I claim the "don't get it" one for that. Thought someone might go for it. No one did, so I lowered the costs. If they are really not sold, then I will have some nice smokes for a letter date. I do apologize if the attempt offended you, was not my intention.

I signed up for FFL before I heard of the cuts. Because I did not want to back out of signing up, I tried to see if someone would cover it for me and I would send them a nice pack (as in it will more than cover the cost) in return.
Next time I will just quit instead of trying to work out a way to stay in.


Dudes, I am pretty much broke. Tried to sell cigars at a higher cost to make some extra cash for school. One of the reasons (but not the only one.) I started a pass was to get a few more cigars. I do not sell 'gifted cigars'. This is also my only time trying to sell some.

I am young, ignorant, and apparantly pretty stupid as well.

Tell, ya what, if you do not want to be on my pass, do not. If you ever think of bombing me or trying to 'gift' me something, do not (as I will blatently sell them for $50 more.)

Only want to smoke some cigars, talk aboput them, sometimes pass a few around, and have some fun.

If you do not like that, just do not PM me, or reply to a post of mine, or sign up to my pass or whatever.

2. Everyone's entitled to their own standards of behavior-unfortunately, they sometimes fee a need to see to it that others adhere to those same standards.

I frankly don't understand why Beast felt the need to stick his beak in here, but that's a done deal. I understood where you're coming from and I also understood what you were doing. I CHOSE to join this pass. What I do when the box gets to me is MY business and noone else's, certainly not that of someone who has CHOSEN not to join this pass.

Are there ironclad rules of etiquette on this board that I'm not aware of? If so, then it should be described as a moderated board where posts are screened and not allowed if they violate the moderation charter. If it isn't, then see 1. and 2. above and BUTT OUT!!

I have traded and bombed several of these folks, I like all of them and feel that they are all mature enough to make their own decisions. Beast likes Las Vegas, I can't stand the town, but I'm not gonna try to keep him from vacationing there. He likes Fantasy Sports Leagues (yawn...) more power to him.

I'm just waiting to get this show on the road. I'm not in it to impress people with my puts, nor am I in it to "better my collection". I just figure I'll have a chance to try some new sticks, and give the same opportunity to others.

The whole point of the pass is to have fun. Maybe you worded things wrong, but I didn't take it as you were trying to dick anyone out of anything.

It's common knowedge that the person who starts the pass, will come out ahead.
If you only started passes and didn't contribute, I would wonder .

As long as you join others passes and are a part of the fun who cares, thats what its about- fun

and meeting new friends

All points that Beast made were not opinions. They were facts and this was backed by Sir-Smokes as to be true.

I don't see how Beast is trying to get anyone to adhere to any "standard". He was just stating facts about an issue.

I will state some facts about Sir-Smokes.

1)I sent Sir-Smokes some Bolivar pc's because he stated they were on his wish list. A few weeks later I see Sir-Smokes having Bolivar pc's for sale at very high prices. Sir-Smokes said that these were not the ones from me. (Seems strange to me that someone with limit experience with ISOMS and someone whos hasn't smoked many, to happen to have more Bolivar pc's than what I sent and why would they be on your "wish list" if you alreay had some.)

2)Sir-Smokes has some RyJ churchills for sale. After reading this thread I'm not sure I would want to buy them.

I believe the reason for Beast's post was not to try and slam Sir-Smokes, but to make everyone aware of the facts about a person who may or may not have the best intentions.
 
:( My apologies for continuing what I consider to be Beast's major breach of etiquette by replying to him here. His message, to me, should have been a PM or posted in the Traders Opinions forum
I PM'd Joe P about his reply, and hope he'll do the same back. I've got nothing more to say about either post.

The selling idea was pretty dumb. (what can I say, it was a brain fart.)

I get it first? Who's first? Is this the order? If so, Me and DixieLand live within a rocks throw of each other. It should go to us in order unless you just want it to travel across the country for no apparent reason.
