Mike is back at college again and will put his

Dixie,
in defense of SSA why are you so pissed off?
Those are his cigars that were ruined not yours. Shouldn't we be holding a ceremony for the lost sticks? I don't get why you are so mad about this.
THe evidence looks clear that SSA is new to passes and did this out of ignorance, not out of malice (why would anyone intenionally ruin their stash?).
True story- I started a pass, and decided to wait until I had recieved one before I sent mine out. Until I saw how it was supposed to be done (thanks Psyktek) I had planned on just putting them loose in a tupper'dor. Reson being I HAD NEVER DONE IT BEFORE. Nether has SSA.
My box was also crap and Psyktek helped me out with a new one.
So cut him some slack, and don't pat yourself on the back for doing the right thing. You routinely send out large packs of cigars to people, so generosity is in your blood. It's what CP is all about.
SSA -sorry some of your cigars got ruined. I'm sure next time you will know what to do.

Michael

A poorly packaged pass is everyone's business. Not just the owner's. If the cigars are ruined it wastes everyone's time and money to receive the package, open it, re-seal it, and pay to send it on. It is frustrating and definitely needed to be addressed. I think that is why Dixie was angry.

Still, as you say, it was SSA's first pass and he took the constructive criticism very well. I commend him for that.

Mike, SirSmokes... you know I love you both but Damn!!!

Mike. You are speaking out of turn. You did not see the box and cannot accurately comment on it. This was not a case of not knowing what to do. It was, as Dixie said, the worst packing job I have seen. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know how to send something in the mail. SirSmokes has been in numerous passes. He has been here longer than most (if not all) who are involved in his pass. He participated in my pass, so I know he saw how it was packed. That should be enough to give a hint as to how it should be done. He was also in the Virgin Pass and the Just Another Cigar Pass. Again, this is not a case of ignorance.

Anyway, if this was the first pass... I can't recall ever sending any glassware or dinerware in the mail to anyone but I think I could dig real deep into my common sense and figure out that if they weren't packed tight, they would bounce around and contact each other and possibly break!

Maybe Dixie was too hard on smokes. They are SSA's sticks, but we all have to pick from those sticks and pay the postage on them to send it out to the next guy. Now mike, you tell me why in the hell anyone would want to participate and each spend $8+++ on postage to look through a box of tobacco crumbs and then be expected to choose one and then add a few extras?

Stack,
I understand that it would suck to spend 8 bucks on a bag full of crumbs, but it would't be half as bad as owning those crumbs.

It just doesn't make sense that someone would it on purpose. And yeah Dixie was seemed like he was raging pissed. "hey you just lost 40 dollars worth of smokes and I am shelling out 8 bucks." I think the lesson would have been learned with "dude you packed this thing like crap and a bunch of cigars are ruined."

By the way did SSA get insurance on it? Maybe we could blame the mailman for the damages ;)

Anyway I get what you are saying. I just think it could have been said another way.

Michael

Unfortunetly, insurance only works from one person to another. I do not know how I could explain the extra trip the box took. :D

I have been on three other passes (I only ment that it was the first one I sent out and had to think about things like packing and protecting). SD's had peanuts for packing (on reflection a very good idea.), one was a small one with less than 10 cigars and wrapped in newspaper, and the other was a mix of newspaper and peanuts. I had fig. (which I know better to now), that the newspaper was fine for the outside and thought the smokes would be okay. I now know that the post office may play 'world cup' with the box and that there should be something (peanuts?) inside the box as well.

speaking of 'World Cup', who thinks the U.S.A.'s women's team will be world champs again?
