Hometown Pass

The reason I proposed the two trades was because I have followed a few passes where it seemed as though a higher MSRP made up for the difference in rarity. I was unsure whether or not a difference of less than a dollar (WOAM and RP trade) would make up for it, but assumed that a difference of nearly 2.25 (858 and Padron) would be closer to acceptable. In light of Brian's recent insight, I realize that the rule is HTF for HTF. The SG is HTF and the Padron is not, so by the rules the difference in MSRP doesn't make up for the difference in rarity which means I need to change this one as well.

After taking a look in the humi it looks like it's just going to be these two:

T 12 Camacho 1962 Pyramide '08 // P CAO Italia Box Press
T 32 Partagas Short '06 // P Fonseca Cosacos '07

Unfortunately the couple of higher priced sticks I have aren't very HTF so they don't fit the bill. Sorry for the issues guys, having seen a few passes where a higher MSRP made up for the difference in rarity I assumed it was okay and I didn't think about the fact that it's based on a pass to pass basis.

There is no reason to apologize. This is a community of members who want to grow their cigar experience. Learning is part of the process. IMHO the 858 SG should be valued at 10-12ish. But a normal 10-12 (tat, fuente, padron), not a Gurkha 10-12. No offense to people who like Gurkha.

I guess after some more thought I could do take the 5 Vegas Limitada for the RP OWR. But then I'm not sure how much age adds value to a cigar.

Edit
This is assuming that the Limitada is not HTF. I saw the Limitadas from 07 and 08 on CI, but not the 06, so in hindsight maybe that wont work either.

Edit Again:

Okay, I'm just going to assume that the age will be a factor with that proposed trade, so I'll put these trades up as hopefully my final proposal, and if there is anything wrong with it please let me know and I'll re-work them.

T 12 Camacho 1962 Pyramide '08 // P CAO Italia Box Press
T 13 Don Lino 1989 Robusto '08 // P RP Old World Reserve
T 32 Partagas Short '06 // P Fonseca Cosacos '07 (<-- There looks to be about a $0.56 difference in the two as well as a year difference as well so let me know if this is a no go.)

Sorry guys, been busier than hell and posting from my phone doesn't work as i'm roaming. The above is fine , if you want to do the 858 SG for your PAN i'll go ahead and let that one work. If anyone as a problem with this, please PM me.

I'll go ahead and leave my T/P's as is and let someone who has a more suitable trade for the 858 take a jump on it.

Not nitpicking but is this an AF 858 SG that has rarity as well? I know the Principe has a higher MSRP, but enough to make up for the rarity? Do we allow money to make up for rarity in passes. I'm new to this and just trying to learn.

In my passes, to a degree, I allow it. Simply because in the spirit of CP, I want others to be able to try cigars that they are not otherwise capable of trying. It's on a case by case basis....will a CAO/ Greycliff/ Gurkha be able to make up for a cigar based on MSRP? Most likely not... but, as I said in most other cases....within reason, I will allow it.....but, this isn't my pass.

In my opinion it depends on the pass. When you have a pass with members that have quite a collection of rarities then Rare for Rare works. But in others where there are people that have not as many the MSRP can make up the difference.

Ed
If that is the case I believe you should stay away from the rare cigars. I don't believe that's how passes work on CP.

I don't follow. Is this a comment directed at me? Please explain what you mean.

It's not a comment directed at you, it's more of a statement. How I've seen this work is if someone wanted to trade for a rare stick but did not have another rare stick to trade for it they still needed to bring a worthy stick into play. Some sort of HTF not just try to up the ante with MSRP. Sorry Ed if I offened you was not my intention.

That is what I am saying. I am not saying that a stick with an inflated MSRP would work for a rare stick. It would still need to be a worthy stick. For the sake of arguing an 858 Rosado was $6 at inception. If you wanted to take it, I think you would need something that is worth close to 20 or 30 for it, and a worthy stick at that.

Ed

Pass came in today...all looks well. I'll do my best to have it on the road tomorrow.

I figured I'd wait until the actual pass got a little closer. I figure we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, and someone ahead of me may change their mind on a stick and I'd hate to step on their toes. But I've got a pretty good idea of what I'm gonna do so I'll post them sometime this weekend most likely.

Looks like it's coming to me, and then you. I am not going to change my mind at all as far as my T/P's are concerned so if you want to start throwing some together than go right ahead.

Since it is getting warmer all over, the faster it moves the better.

Posting P/T's early wont make the shipping any faster. Some guys, while I'm not one of them, prefer to look at the sticks before making any decision. I think its best we don't have everyones P/T's up before the 5th guy gets the pass. It would mess with the flow and take away from the fun of following the pass IMO. If no one else agrees then that is fine, but I don't think there should be a rush for guys to post thier P/T's when the pass is still a few people ahead of them. I actually made up my P/T's a few days ago, but didn't want to perpetuate the feeling that the cart was getting too far ahead of the horse. Again this is all IMO.

Recieved a super cool package from my "Santa" today. Thank you so much. What a great box to come home to after quite a shitty day I must add. The timing could not have been better.
Thank you my friend I really loved it.

I have a couple questions
1. Once our package comes is it out in the open to who it was?
2. Am I to send my kid his stuff now? If so I will get right on it.
I was under the impression we sent it to the kid when we pass the pass even though my kid is not the next guy in the pass.
Maybe I missed something.

My plan was to send out the hometown stuff after/when I send out the actual pass but I would also like to see what others opinions on this are.

When you get the Hometown stuff, you're not supposed to do anything but enjoy it.
Your kid will get your hometown pride around the time YOU ship the pass.

X2. There is more than enough time to post P/T's when pass is on the way to you.

Is the cigar list even updated?

Brian

Ok cool thanks guys.
I am on alot on my iPhone and sometimes miss stuff.

******* your hometown pride will go out when I get the pass.

What about outing my Santa?
This guy needs to be outed man. Y'all need to be warned about him :D
