Fountain Pens 2023 - Anyone?

Mail call! I decided to order a TWSBI Eco and three sample inks.

The pen is beautiful! I wasn't sure I wanted something transparent, but I can really appreciate the inner workings of this device. It helps me embrace the analog nature of the whole experience. I'm very happy with the merchant experience, the personal touches are really nice.

I picked the kon-peki as my first ink. There was just enough in the sample to fill the pen and I suspect it will last for quite a while with the limited writing I do. The addition of the ink really changed the appearance of the pen in a good way.

I was a Troooer for many years. I always signed my reports and summonses in Block Letters. I didn't want people to have to guess.

I write mostly in block caps for legibility purposes... and what I write is not nearly as exciting -- mostly student call slips, graduation plans ,etc... though at least a couple will likely be the subject of reports and summonses in the future...

Beautiful pen and ink choices!!! The Eco is such a great pen - and you are right, because it is a demonstrator, the ink really adds character to it. I have one at work inked up with a bright magenta and another with Diamine Sherwood Green.

I do love those Pilot Iroshizuku inks. And there are so many other brand and colors of inks to explore, it is crazy. I like that Goulet does the ink samples before committing to a bog bottle - I often have them throw in a couple of random samples with an order just to see what I get.

I transitioned to all caps when I took architecture classes in college. That lasted for many years afterwards, but when I needed to take notes quickly the caps gave way to sloppy lower case. Since you started this thread I've been working to improve both of those styles of writing, and rediscovered the joy of penmanship that I lost years ago.

That is awesome! I'm happy you are going back to it!

Not nearly as nice, (I love fountain pens) but I use a Pilot V pen. A disposable fountain pen.

Don't sell yourself short - the Varsity is a decent pen, plus the fact that they are disposable makes them convenient. There are ways to refill them (I have not ever tried it), but I didn't see the need. The Platinum Preppy is also a good one to check out in the same category.
