El Cheapo Smoke of the Day - 2024

Gilberto Oliva Reserva Nicaragua - Corona. A box of 20 is $88.99 at Cigars International today - but Cigar Page has 20 bx Robustos for $71.25. Puffy price: $2.81, as part of a C.I. mystery brown bag sampler.

A medium Nicaraguan, with an Indonesian Sumatra wrapper.

"a zesty medium-bodied cigar with smooth notes of earth, leather, and spice"

The burn on this one was very sharp, and it was very well behaved.

Here are a couple of sticks on the budget end of the Graycliff line that typically go for $5, but you can sometimes get these for less than $3.

Graycliff G2 - A mellow Nicaraguan, with Dominican & Nicaraguan fillers, and an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper.

Carlos Torano - Casa Torano. About $6, but typically on sale less than three bucks. Puffy price: $2.09.

Honduran, with Dominican/Nicaraguan long fillers- Nicaraguan binder - Ecuador Connecticut wrapper.

This is one of my go-to El Cheapo smokes. A nice mellow/medium stick with subtle spice.

"Medium Nicaraguan long filler/binder - Connecticut wrapper. Notes of earth, cream, and spice."

Reminds me of an Oliva Connecticut Reserve, but a little stronger, and a fuzz more spice.
Good early morning stick.

From a July '24 - Rocky Patel "Cargo" 6 x 52. C.I. has these for $2.50 - but wait for a sale !

Medium Nicaraguan "sandwich-style" filler with a dark Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper.

Some of you should order these and let me know how you like them. In the off chance that you hate them - just send them to me and I'll smoke 'em.

Padilla 68 Series - Original. Medium.

"A Honduran-grown, Corojo-seed wrapper surrounds a bold mix of all-Honduran tobacco for the long-fillers. This recipe results in with a richly nuanced, bold palate bender with zero bite"

I buy these when they get to $3 or less. Anyone that finds a sale on these, please let me know. They're typically $6.

Oliva Serie O - Maduro.

A full strength Nicaraguan stick, with a dark Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro wrapper.

The construction is a bit rough, but hey - it was $2.54, as part of a large sampler - and it burned very well

My 1st one of these, and I really like it. And I like it better than the regular Serie O with the Habano wrapper.

Victor Sinclair Fumas Maduro 6 x 42. A medium Dominican mixed filler stick with a maduro wrapper. A box of 50 is $58 today, but wait for a sale !

I bought this box in Oct '23. They were initially pretty decent, and a year in storage has improved them.

The construction is a bit wonky but hey - they were less than a dollar.

Puffy Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ and 7/8ths

La Finca. 6 x 50.

A medium+ Nicaraguan stick. Less than a dollar for you coupon shoppers - and a bit more for the impatient.

Pairs well with sunshine, blue skies, and morning coffee.

La Aurora Preferidos 1903 Cameroon (old label). In Oct '23 these were less than $3. Cigar Page has these right now in a Toro for $4.50.

A medium/full - Dominican/Nicaraguan long fillers - Ecuadorian Sumatra binder - Cameroon wrapper.

Very well constructed stick. Excellent draw and a slow, even burn. A bit more spice than I usually like, but it was still quite tasty.

A Heinz-57 of Nigaraguan Habano Esteli/Habano Condega, and Honduran Habano Copan fillers with a Habano-seed Esteli binder and a Pennsylvania-grown Broadleaf Maduro wrapper.

Light to medium spice on this stick, and smooth. I like the sweetness ya get from a good maduro wrapper. Decent Stick, to be sure.
