Christmas music

Holiday Sing Along with Mitch Miller

I grew up with this album. It contained all of the words inside. There were enough copies for me, my brother and my sister, so we were able to all sing along

Of course as I got older I had to buy the CD and I play it every year...... but I still miss the crackling sound that the vinyl made

LMAO, me too Tommy! My mother and father used to put that on every year around this time, crackling and all! :p

They are going to be here in the next couple of days...I was gonna go but I heard from a few people that the songs you hear on the radio are really good...but live their show is uncomfortably loud and is not near as pleasant as what you will hear on a CD or the radio...So i decided to maybe go see Billy Joel instead when he comes here in February

I have always loved Andy Williams, and Tennesee Ernie Ford's versions of traditional Christmas hymns/tunes. Guess it comes from growing up listening to my mom's LPs of them..

Ditto. I also really like "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" done by Bare Naked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan. My all time favorite is "The Christians and the Pagans" by Dar Willaims.

x3 on the Johnny Cash- Little Drummer Boy along with alot of his other Christmas related gospel tunes.

I dig a lot flowingly bluesy Elvis X-mas stuff.

I love Louis Armstrong's "Zat you Santa Clause"

One more (non typical Christmas jam- but fitting) Neil Young's "Star of Bethlehem"

O Holy Night - John Berry (one of the most pure voices in music) If his version of O Come Emmanuel and O Holy Night don't get you in the Christmas spirit, then you just don't get it!

Take a listen to John Berry's version of O Holy Night....mind blowing.

I like more traditionl stuff too. My favorite song is "O Holy Night" by either a good choir or a someone like Michael Crawford or anyone with a strong voice.

:D I was reading this thread for a couple minutes and didnt know it was an old thread until I read my post from last year. I was all excited when I read someone mention "O Holy Night", then found it was my quote from last year.

I heard a great version last nite at a friends house. It was by Il Divo, 4 "opera like" singers. Just great voices(my lady friend is just ga ga over them). Don't know the name of the album, but they are pretty new, so it is probably a new cd.

Here is an excellent version of Michael Crawford singing "O Holy Night"...

Transiberian Orchestra. I want to take my wife to see them live eventually.

Just saw them again last weekend. Amazing show. One of these years I'm going to get back East to check out that lineup. As a long time Savatage fantatic TSO just feeds my addiction even more. Great stuff!
