Wow, I never heard of a bad frog before and did a search on the forum. are those for real? Are they actually good? They make the padron fumas look good.

What's wrong w/ Lone Wolf cigars? I mean, they are backed by the most bad ass kungfu guy alive, Chuck Norris AND the younger brother party animal, James Belushi! What more can you ask for in a smoke? :p

The baggies do not keep the humidifier from working. :sign:
just another one of those little things that comes with experience.

Maybe I should rephrase that. The humidifier would still work and it would keep the outside of that ziplock baggie nice and humid, but anything inside the baggie isn't going to benefit from the humidifier. um.. unless the baggies you are referencing don't have ziplocks .. then I would agree.

SteveHawk says he has some that I can throw in the pass. But all the smokes I have in the tubidor have cellophane, so I think they are good.

.....

Well, we still only have 7 in the pass right now. I would like to get it underway pretty soon though. So, what do you guys think of having this kick off by Monday at the latest, even if we don't get any more ppl joining the pass? PM me and LMK your thoughts on that.

I am going to hang w/ SteveHawk and KiltedCraftsman this Saturday night, bring over the pass box, and he offered to give any pointers before it goes out.

IF you really want a flavored let me know I will get you a Teten(I hear I have a few coming hehehe but I was saving them for those that are "special" to me the d@mn bums)

Seriously I will make one of my puts a Kaluha(tried one this afternoon and not my thing but hey to each their own) and have another!

and there are always the White Owls or Phillies Choc. Dm and I promised!!

I don't think I said that. All I said is that I have never tried a flavored cigar. All I ask is to try to follow the theme. So, if you had thought this cigar came highly referenced or that something you ought to try and it didn't really do anything for you, then make it one of your puts. Just post where or why you thought it came recommended.

I don't even think your dog that you have been chasing would recommend those. :)

As for the rest of you who keep reading this thread but don't sign up for the pass, Cmon allready! :)

Thanks,

Hmmm Lars Tetens. NEver got the humi they come in or the hype. I like some perfumed cigars (Acids) but not many of them... If you put it in double baggy that sucker :)

a newbie here also, but would like to participate. have various sticks from $2-5 to trade, could even include some freshly rolled ones from a couple of local cuban crafters. hope not too late, but looking forward to seeing posts on some of the cigars passed.

Nope, you are right on time. :) I'm not planning on closing this until I get 10 ppl, and you would make 8. I think SteveHawk will do a kind of informal pass ... I'll iron out those details this Saturday, but that would make 9. :) Only one more to go.... and I may have someone there, we shall see what he says.

Definitely fill out the rest of your profile, and post a message in the Lobby introducing yourself to all. :)

Thanks,
- C

Being a summer newbie here I haven't really seen much going on in this area of the forum. I would like to get in on this baby myself If you dont mind adding me. I haven't been a part of any trades yet because my bank account hasnt had an extra $50 in it just yet either. So If youll have me and Im not too late I would like to be a part of this very unique pass.

Sure, I would be happy to add you, but I need you to respond to the PM I left you. I am closing spots on this today so we can start the pass; I will be mailing it out on Tuesday. Remember: Communication is the key. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks,

Ok, we are just about ready to Rock and Roll! Newbie chilto_a just PMed me w/ what I needed, and he is in. So that makes 10 if CYG responds as well. Meaning ... I need to follow through w/ my part.

According to the theme of the pass:
As a newbie, most of what I buy is based on reviews/recommendations. Some of these are great, some not so great. Since I don't smoke that frequently, if I did not enjoyed my last experience with a cigar, I'm not likely to give it a second chance (especially considering the number of cigars that I have not yet given a first chance). As a result, I have accumulated a number of supposedly good cigars that I'm just not going try again.
Here is why I put in my list of puts:

CI Legends Series by Camacho: 5.75" x 54 ring (white label)
- When I first started getting into cigars and decided to start tying some different brands, I thought the CI Legends series would be a good place to start. My favorites were the Camacho and the Perdomo. I put this in there just to share. It isn’t a favorite anymore, but still a good anyday smoke. (a little strong though)

CI Legends Series by Camacho: 5.75" x 54 ring (blue label)
- After trying a CI Legends series sampler, I decided I liked the Camacho and Perdomos the best. For some reason I got it in my head that the blue labels were the Camacho, so I ordered a box of the wrong ones. This is still a good smoke, but a little more earthy than I like.

Conga by La Perla Habana - Toro: 6" x 50 ring
- This came in a 90+ sampler, so I figured it would be pretty good. I just wasn’t that impressed, so I put it here.

Don Diego Playboy Robusto: 5" x 50 ring
- I really like this cigar. It is super creamy and I don’t have a thing to say bad about it. I wanted to round out the lineup and I just have 5 (now 4 after poker) in my humi, so I can spare one pretty easily.

Fire by Indian Tabac - Toro: 6" x 50 ring
- I soon found out that I really like the Indian Tabac line. It is a good smoke that isn’t that expensive. IT came out with the Fire line, and being a connoisseur of hot, spicy food, I thought this would be a good smoke. Well, I found out I don’t really like spicy cigars. Rated well, but not my cup of tea.

Hoyo de Monterrey Sultans Maduro: 7.2" x 54 ring
- I first tried a Hoyo de Monterrey Maduro in a Maduro sampler. I really liked it, so I thought I would get a fiver. Well, this was my first big awakening to different cigar sizes. This thing is a monster! It is really good, just a lot larger than I was expecting.

Indian Tabac Anniversary Limited Reserve Bear: 5" x 50 ring
- Similar IT story here. I guess this is one of Cigar International’s best selling cigars. Since I really like IT, and bears are one of my favorite animals, I thought this would be a good smoke to try. I bought a 10 pack, and found out it also wasn’t my cup of tea. Maybe it is yours. 

Indian Tabac Cuban Corojo Warrior: 6" x 52 ring
- This IT came in an IT sampler pack. I thought the other one was a serious dog rocket. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I don’t wish to try again. SteveHawk thinks I just had a bad stick, because he really likes this brand.

Indian Tabac Maduro Tomahawk: 6" x 52 ring
- I really like this smoke. It is in here because I bought a box with the idea of splitting it with a guy at work. I didn’t realize he was an IT Boxer snob and didn’t want the larger Tomahawks. A great smoke IMO.

Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Box Pressed Toro Maduro: 6" x 52 ring
- Another fabulous IT smoke. (See a pattern here?) Again, I have several in my humi, so I put it in here to get the opportunity to try some different smokes.

Puros Indios #2 Especial: 6.5" x 48 ring
- I have tried several Puros Indios and like most of them. I saw these go on special and jumped at the chance to buy a box. As it turns out, this stick is a little more spicy, and doesn’t have much of a full body flavor than I like. Not a bad smoke, and a lot of people seem to like them.

........

This pass has actually already officially started. I swung by SteveHawk's house and he has already done his takes/puts. I have the list at home and will post the updated list of smokes tonight.

SteveHawk was a ton of help. He set me up w/ a folder which contains a list of rules for the pass, a sheet on FAQs, a list of all the pass participants (which I will update w/ phone numbers and new additions before I send it out), some single baggies and some labels. Let's give it up for SteveHawk. :D

I will put the finishing touches on this tonight and it will hit the post office Tuesday AM. As of right now, the pass list order is as follows:

SteveHawk
JAEwing
Fyodor
BGarv3
Shibumi
Diesel Grinch
CvilleYoungGun
DevilsMilk
Peekay
chitlo_a
Blue Dragon

Remember to make sure the next person on the list is ready to receive it. PM them, etc.

JAEwing .. you ready to rock and roll?

SteveHawk will be posting his puts/takes tonight. I will be putting the DC on the post tomorrow.

:D :D   :D :D

PM Sent

Sorry for the delay in my response internet has been down here. But Im on board and excited about getting this baby on its way. You can absolutely count on my communication through this whole thing. As far as I can tell the community building and communication during a pass is as much fun and plays as much a role in the pass as the cigars themselves.

Thanks for letting me in and lets have fun,

CYG

Thanks to everyone who has been helpful and enthusiastic w/ this pass. It has been a lot of fun for me soo far. I hope it is fun for you guys as well.

Good luck, and nice gesture on your part. Lots of new folks in this pass, hope it all works out for you, Enjoy!

Thanks, Cory, for the chance to be in your pass.

For those that don't know, both Cory and I live in Boise, ID. We had never met until this past weekend when we (and KiltedCraftsman) got together for a smoke and to go over the pass. Cory is a great guy and a good BOTL and I'm sure we'll be having more "cigar time" in the future.

He brought the pass over and I made a few Puts and Takes:

Takes:

#13 Indian Tabac Anniversary Limited Reserve Bear
#18 Indian Tabac Maduro Tomahawk
#20 Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Box Pressed Toro Maduro

Puts (I may have the numbering mixed up a bit):

#26 La Aurora Robusto
#27 Cuesta Rey Centenario #60
#28 La Flor Dominicana El Jocko #1

Now, according to the rules laid out by Cory, I'm supposed to explain why I made these puts. First, I looked at approx. equal value for my Puts and Takes. If you've read up on how to do Ps and Ts, you'll know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, you should go to the "A Few Thoughts" thread that is pinned to the top of this forum. It's good reading, and will help you as the pass travels your way. Otherwise, here's why I made these Puts:

La Aurora - I'm a big fan of La Aurora Preferidos (particularly the Maddies). This cigar is not in the same class as a Preferidos, but it is a good, basic smoke. Folks that like cigars in the medium range should enjoy this one.

Cuesta Rey - This is a nice, solid cigar in the medium-full range. I enjoy them and thought someone else would also.

LFD El Jocko - I really enjoy LFDs. This little beauty is a classic and tastes very good. It's not as strong as some of the darker LFDs, but packs some good flavor IMHO. I purchased a fiver not too long ago, for my own pleasure, but decided to add one to the line up for those who haven't tried them.

Have fun in the pass guys. Be sure to read the pass FAQs that are included in the box. They should help you with the pass and keep it moving along with a minimal amount of problems and/or drama. If you have any questions, please just ask!

~ S.

Congrats on getting your pass lined up and on the move.
If things get back to normal I would look forward to getting in on your next one or haveing you in mine(someday).

Cigars.after.1st.put.jpg

I packed the cigars w/ some styrofoam peanuts, not my favorite, but I figure they will be the most flexible if the size of the contents change. I also found a little humidor gel pad that is really cool. It soaks up some (distilled) water and then evaporates at 65% humidity. AND it was only $.89. Can't beat that.
Tubidor.ready.4.shipping.jpg

I also wanted to thank everyone who is willing to participate in this pass. It is hosted by a FNG and and full of NooBs. I know that there is some concern that this may not go off, and until the other day I couldn't figure out what the big deal was. But it is precedence. If any pass is hosted poorly, or goes poorly, or is stolen, etc, it reinforces the fear in others; it adds to the story that ppl can't be trusted. So I put together a little "Thank You" for all that could venture past the fear and break the mold. I am still putting together the last few. LMK what you think of yours. :D
Thank.You.CDs.jpg

Your nick is on the one made for you. SteveHawk already has his. :)

I will be on a motorcycle ride August 12th - 15th through Glacier Park w/ my wife. I figure the pass should be hitting Shibumi or Diesel Grinch about that time. I will be asking if SteveHawk can follow up on the pass while I am not as available during those 4 days. But for the most part it looks like when the pass hits people, they will be done w/ thier vacation.

Any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Thanks,
- C

It would be my pleasure. Let's have a good pass, all!

This thread is ready to be moved to the next area.

I already have my takes in mind . . . just have to look through the humi for some puts. :D

Sounds great. Thank you for the great pass.

I will be on vacation as I mentioed to Blue Dragon from the 30th through August 6th. But from the looks of it I should be back in time before it gets to me.
