What a game this Fiesta bowl has been. Overtime should be exciting - Go big 12!

EDIT - Holy shit....

holy shit again..

This may be one of the best games I have ever watched. Glad I don't have a real rooting interest in either team or heart trouble may have commenced.

I too love the Bowl season.

I'm an SEC fan and the SEC has NINE teams in bowls this year. :0 I'm also a Penn State fan so I was glad to see them thump Tennessee  because most of the so-called "experts" said Penn State had no chance to win this one.

I was kind of sad to see Michigan lose since I also root for Big Ten teams as well except freakin' Wisconsin who beat Arkansas today. :(

South Carolina had a great win over Houston and Kentucky also had a nice win over Clemson, LMAO! I've become a Carolina fan since Spurrier became their head coach. Auburn won the Cotton Bowl but 'Bama lost a close one to one of your Big 12 teams Oklahoma State....

Oh oh denverdog, Boise State just tied it up and we're going to OT. :0

Truth be told I am a huge Huskers fan as my dad is from Omaha, so today was tough. That on top of the Denver Broncos choke job added up to a pretty bad weekend but this game is easing the pain a bit. Just a great time to be a football fan.

:D

Back in the 80s in Nebraska's heyday, they beat the crap out of Penn State and I don't think I ever recovered from that one.

The last few years have been tough for Nebraska since they're used to being phenomenal but they'll be back before ya know it. ;)

This is an incredible game.

EDIT: Going for the win... awesome.
I don't know that I agree with going for the win.. We will see....

EDIT - Incredible. Perfect end to an absolutely amazing game. That Boise State coach has some huge rocks.

Oh great, now we have to hear about how Boise State deserves a shot for a National Championship.

He guys, YOU DON'T PLAY ANYONE WHO MATTERS! They'd be lucky if they could have a winning season playing an SEC level schedule. ;)

The two teams who are playing for this year's National Championship are the two teams that deserve to be there, Ohio State and Florida and let's face it, Ohio State deserves to be ranked #1 and sorry USC, ya lost to UCLA so you don't figure in it this year either.

Everyone is exactly right - HOLY SHIT!

What a game. This is exactly why College Football is the only sport, other than horse racing, worth watching...

Are you kidding me? I don't care if you play no one and make it in on the "wild card" slot, you deserve the chance to be in a playoff and beat the other teams that made it there, too. You have no idea what would happen when any two teams show up. Everyone has their guess and knows what's probably going to happen, but no one knows.

This BCS system is seriously flawed and needs to go the fuck away.

No, I'm totally serious, Boise State didn't play any Top 25 teams and doesn't deserve a shot at a National Championship anymore than Central Michigan does, they won their conference and won their bowl too. At least they played tougher teams like Michigan and Kentucky for their nonconference games and they didn't win those. If Boise State wants to be taken more seriously, they should join a tougher conference and/or play some better teams for their nonconference games.

Louisville deserves a shot at the National Championship! Tonight they will DOMINATE Wake and the Big East will move to 4-0 in bowl games.

Louisville lost to Rutgers  so they don't deserve a shot at the National Championship.

The Big East is a pretty pathetic conference for football and is hardly on the same level as the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 or PAC 10.

As far as the alledged "competition" the Big East has faced in bowls this year, let's review:

East Carolina (Conference USA, 2nd in the conference with a 7-5 record)
Kansas State (Big 12, 3rd in the Big 12 North with a 7-5 record)
Georgia Tech (ACC, First in the ACC Costal with a 9-4 record)
Wake Forest (ACC, First in the ACC Atlantic with an 11-2 record)

Not too impressive except maybe for Louisville's draw of Wake Forest. The reason the Big East teams can't get into any bowls (other than the one BCS bowl where they are required to show pity on the pathetic Big East per BCS guidelines) is because once again, the Big East SUCKS as a football conference.

I highly doubt Louisville will "dominate" Wake Forest  and even if they sneak by Wake Forest, it still doesn't mean much.

I have to agree with Bill on this. Louisville is not a National Champion caliber team and the Big East is soft! Even though my son is an alum of Rutgers and they had a great season they were just good with some luck thrown in, like Louisville.

Bill-your facts are a bit skewed. BSU has earned the right to compete with anyone in the country for anything. We aren't however, being given those chances.

Well, shit, Florida lost to Auburn, so they shouldn't be in it either, no? Why have a game at all, we already have a winner!

This system is seriously flawed. A single loss knocks you out of the possibility of competing for the national championship most time. Smaller schools have zero chance of ever competing for it even if they go undefeated in their "soft" conference. Hell, if they're so "soft", they'll be out in the first round anyhow, so why are you so scared of a playoff against them? Fuck, even going undefeated in a hard conference doesn't get you a chance to compete for the national championship sometimes.

We might as well just flip coins or draw straws than use this system. The harder conferences are generally screwed because they beat each other up and generally ensure each team has at least one loss (SEC, duh), the softer conferences are screwed because they'll never get a chance so no one knows how good they really are (or aren't).

Every other sport has a playoff... it's a matter of time and it's the only right and fair solution.
