Journey/Red Rider

Red Rider was a very popular Canadian band who would open for Journey, REO Speedwagon, J. Giles and even Rush among others. While they had 4 big hits in Canada only none made it onto the US top 40 although the one below was popular on AOR and college stations. A decent band that had the crowd wanting more and did an encore

Journey was on their Escape tour which was a chick magnet. They played 3 shows on the 4th,5th and 6th and I took advantage of that as best I could. Songs off the album like Don't Stop Believing, Stone in Love, Who's Crying Now were made for making out and that was just off of the first side of the record. Toss in Open Arms and a half dozen + of their other hits and it didn't get much better for a date night or the after show night either.

Dan "Hendo" Henderson, the olympic wrestler and MMA champion used Lunatic Fringe as his walkout music. Hearing those opening chords through an arena PA system wakes up the old goosebumps.

I was lucky enough to see the Arnel Pineda-at-his-peak Journey about 10-15 years ago, and it was a hell of a show. Neal Schon has one of the two best live guitar tones I've ever heard (the other being Joe Walsh).
