What did you smoke today

VR Famosos ... beautiful looking cigar, great pre-light aroma, a lot of burn issues and touch ups, started out very mild, built to medium and then really strong and spicy in the last third. Overall was an okay cigar but I wouldn't buy a box. My opinion is a little biased because I really prefer smaller rings, generally 36-42 ... this cigar probably would be enjoyed more for someone that prefers robustos.

Today

AF Don Carlos #4 and I'm thinking about burning another one in a few mins...

Yesterday was a 3 hitter

AF Cuban Beli

Don Pepin JJ Beli

RyJ Petit Piramide Edición Limitada 2005

La Gloria Cubana Reserva Figurados Selecto De Lujos

Size: Figurado
Vintage: Current, September 2006
Ring Gauge: 54
Length: 7 1/4"
Price: about five bucks

This cigar is very nice in appearance and construction. It burned exceptionally well however that's where it ended for me. The first quarter was like sucking on air. The second quarter was like sucking on more air. During the third quarter the flavor started to pick up but ended there. The ending was uneventful and quite bland. Overall a very disappointing smoke. I would rate it a smooth, very mild cigar (unlike any La Gloria) or at least this one was.

I usually like La Glorias and have been smoking them since the early 90's. I have a nice stash of them but this new one was a huge disappointment to me. :(

Just had a puros indios maxima corona while doing a little reading in the yard. Not bad, not great. I am thinking tonight I will step it up a little bit...

While enjoying the Chiefs rout of the 49'ers, I had a RP Connecticut (short one) and a Punch Gran Puro Rancho.

JHawk, how was the RP Connecticut? I have thought about getting some of those for when I was in the mood for a mild smoke.

It was outstanding! I am more a fan of medium to full bodied cigars, but I really enjoyed the Connecticut -- I would recommend you try it!

Thanks JHawk, I will have to pick some up

Yesterday I started with a pregame Don Pepin JJ Beli. For the long day of games I had my second AVO 80th. Again, it started young, but blossomed into one amazing cigar about 1/3 of the way through. Luckily, I could focus a bit as Indy barely pulled off an exciting win. After a game of soccer with the nieces, nephews, and dogs in the park, I returned for the afternoon games. I moved the TV out onto the back deck and lit up an FFOX Super Beli. All great cigars on a beautiful day.

Montecristo Platinum Robusto.

For the first 1/2" or so, I thought it was going to be a snoozer. But it picked up beyond there, and the second third was really nice. Didn't produce gobs of smoke, but the medium body really let some nice flavor through, even a little spice.

A little light for my taste, but overall a dandy smoke!

Helluva day Nate!!!

Just finished a Gurkha Centurian Double X. It was a decent cigar, but I probably won't pick up any more.

AF Cuban Beli tonight. My first and I really enjoyed it, it really surprised me.

Had some wrapper issues when it began to expand, split pretty good, but settled down.

Finished fabulously.

Last Night - LFD DL Chisel - Man what a powerhouse!

After Lunch Today - Partags Short

Tonight if all goes according to plan - Anejo #48

Nothing yet but I am about to step out for a power ranger to reflect on the first day of my last quarter of grad school

Smoked a Carlos Torano Tribute 2004 (maduro) churchhill on the drive out to my clients. I have a box of these that I purchased from a fellow BOLT that I have only had about 4 of. They are very good, but they need a bit more humidity then the 63% I keep my desktop at.

I have a Monte #4 (so cliche) for the drive home ;)

AF Chateau Fuente SG.

I must of got a bum one. The last one I had was outstanding. This one had very little flavor and was a tough draw. Been at 65/65% for months and everything else is smoking fine. Seemed like it was plugged along one side. Didn't matter how I massaged the thing, it just didn't loosen up. All this led to an uneven burn, as well.

This has to be an anomaly, and I'm disappointed it was the last one in my humi. I wanted my last impression of this smoke to be good.

Oh, well. I have much more to try before revisiting this particular cigar.
