Watch out for rick3985

How long does it typically take you to get unmentionables from overseas? In my dealings with Switzerland, and hong Kong, and Australia, two weeks to the day is about right, if all the I's are dotted and the T's crossed. Is this your experience?

ggiese... Did you read the other feedbacks? the ones that were positive and made up for the four negatives? Are you going to post a link to these for your faithful followers to read? How about a link to the picture of my newborn son in my e-herf photo album? If you look real close, he is saluting you.

Ricky, Ricky, Ricky...

First you pay for an order with a credit card that is declined - granted, it's plausible you may have had difficulty with it because someone stole your information and had to shut it down - but it's also plausible you're over your head and probably shouldn't be doing all the trading you're doing considering how many trades you're doing. Either way - it seems to me (and this is from years of experience with credit cards) you would know the card had been declined and you needed to take care of it - not wait until Shaun contacted you about it...

And, Ricky - you've been using this excuse your child was born... Yet you're entering into new transactions and leaving the others standing around waiting for you to make good under the guise of child birth.

As much as you may think so - you're trading record is not stellar. It could be - but that is your choice. It appears, though, your choice at this point is to attack the messenger with the message, rather than take care of what needs to be taken care of. Not a good call...

Oh, and by the way - pay careful attention - I think your child is signalling you about what the current state of your situation on this board. Now please don't shoot the messenger for that message - he looks cute!!!

Being a completely neutral observer here I think one thing is missing from all of this . . . an apology from Rick.

Now Rick before you go off listen up a bit first . . .

If this is the first you have heard of the "problem" that is fine. However, you knew your account was frozen and that you were involved in a purchase/trade deal. Second, in no way are the issues with you bank account the fault of ffopusxff. So being that the purchase/trade deal you had with him was fouled up on your end the polite thing to do would have been to at least apologize for the foul up regardless of the underlying reasons. Your reaction of excuses and defensiveness only makes the whole mess look more and more shady.

Now ffopusxff may have jumped in on this public outing a tad early (especially since he was not out anything yet) I do understand the need to quickly and decisively out all of the cheater scumbags that seem to troll the boards.

I would suggest an apology by Rick is in order for the inconvenience and if the two of you wish to continue with the purchase/trade I suggest not only do you do so but to be sure to post when it is complete and that all went well. If not then part ways since nobody really got ripped off here.

ggeise, "And, Ricky - you've been using this excuse your child was born... Yet you're entering into new transactions and leaving the others standing around waiting for you to make good under the guise of child birth"

I used the "excuse" only because YOU linked the four negative feedback from another site in this thread.

I think both gentlemen should shake hands and make up, then send a nice premium stick to all other members!

Okay - so quit making excuses and fix it. Is that such a terrible thing?

...or do you plan on standing around gritting your teeth, foaming at the mouth, clenching your fists and posting up images of your son "saluting" everyone...

I agree that an apology would be in order, and I am willing to do that, but, I am not the only one from whom an apology is due. I found out about my identity theft about twelve to thirteen days ago. I thought for sure the transaction with &&*^*$%$ (vendor) had already cleared, but obviously it had not. I have not heard otherwise. I apologize to ffopusX I did not follow up with you to make sure you did not receive your sticks, but honestly, I do not think two weeks is abnormal. If it is, I want the name of YOUR vendors! Regardless, I appreciate the defensive nature of the board, and will send *&%**&^#%^ (vendor) new credit card info tomorrow if this is what you want to do.

Also, I appreciate the heads-up, but I would appreciate a post on the "other" board saying this has been taken care of ggeise. (since this business was carried over by yourself.)

This is now done. And Rick as i stated my message to you, we are done. You do not have to reorder these stix. Just as you were happy that people outed the person you were dealing with in an attempt to screw you the same was done here. For all involved and those reading this as always Buyer/Trader beware

You got me totally confused, ricky...

First off you say:

Anybody have anything else to say? I am not going anywhere, so don't be afraid to say what is on your mind.

AND, for the record, this is exactly why I haven't gotten involved here except to do some purchases. Everytime someone on this site does something even remotely close to abnormal, the entire board jumps to the offensive and slaughters them. I am on this site every single day since November of last year, (have Rob the cigar god check) but I am ashamed to post anything other than my credit card information because of the banter coming out of most of your mouths. I only got started here because a particular individual I know used to sell some very high end-collectible sticks here (Ashton estate Reserves, etc.)and I was a buyer. But, what do you know, he doesn't even post here anymore.

Now you say:

Regardless, I appreciate the defensive nature of the board...

From what I was born, that sounds like talk out of both sides of your mouth.

And then coupled with a conditional apology, ricky - you should be ashamed of yourself....

Make good - apologize - and move on... Your reputation is on the line...

As far as the other board - what was said in there is in no way derogatory, so I'm not sure what you mean that I should go back there and correct it. But if that's what you want - make good on this transaction and we'll see... ;)

"Just as you were happy that people outed the person you were dealing with in an attempt to screw you the same was done here."

This was never an attempt to screw you. I never even knew a problem existed. If anybody should be put in the "beware" list, it should be you. You had the opportunity to take a newbie, give him guidance and direction on how to do things the right way, and mold him into an active, participating member of CigarPass. AND YOU FAILED.

Instead, you felt the need to out me, in hopes that it would take your 270 posts to new heights. Hell, you might even be invited to participate in the weekly poker for sticks game on Wednesday nights!

Should have known my apology would fall on deaf ears. LOL.....

ggeise, I will send Shaun a nice fiver to apologize in the way of the BOTL. you and I seem to know what that means, and actually believe in it. I smoke cigars for the enjoyment. For the opportunity to share that experience with other BOTL, and make some new friends along the way. If he wants nothing to do with me, fine, i hope he can find solace in the smokes. That is the way a true BOTL would have handled this situation, and you know it.

(have Rob the cigar god check)

I guess you're referring to me as the "cigar god"? Actually, the name is Rod, not Rob. So, you can refer to me as Rod the Cigar God. ;)

ffopusX,

Sending a nice Ashton Heritage Puro Sol robusto, 858 SG, torano Virtuoso Crescendo, Original Perdomo Reserve Maduro P (box pressed, clear cello), and an UTS maduro tomorrow morning to Milwuakee. Hope you enjoy the sticks.

Sad part is, i have family in Butler, WI and am up there once or twice a year.

An e-mail or P/M would have been nice.

You and I have a different opinion of what being a BOTL is. A "true BOTL" would have handled this situation VERY differently, and I'm convinced you don't know it based upon the way you're handling yourself right now, at this very moment of crisis.

Forget what I (and others) say, Ricky - look at what you say. And look at your actions in your trades over the totality of your visits to these boards. That speaks volumes about who you really are. But that's really your choice, isn't it... ;)

As far as the sending of a fiver of cigars to Shaun, I gotta say - If someone hands me a cigar out of friendship, I very much enjoy it. If someone hands me a cigar because they want to "calm the waters", they tend to taste awfully bitter. Thanks, but no thanks...

Actually, I do have something to add. If you don't have time to trade in a respectable manner, then take time off and don't trade. Having so many trades go south is only going to hender your reputation across all cigar forums, not just CP. Anyway, some good advice has been offered to you by other members. I hope you take the advice...

Rod, is two weeks to the day too long to receive a third party shipment from overseas?

Regardless, I appreciate the defensive nature of the board...

I appreciate the defensive nature of the board as well. This 'nature' keeps dealers square and runs off the guys who are 'just here to make buys/trades.' Thanks for taking this one on George and keeping CP safe!

And there is no board FAILURE here! Thank God we can use this as an example for Newbies (like myself) in the future. Communication is the key and bad communication can turn anyone into a bad dealer in an instant. Intentions don't mean jack shit! Actions is how we are all judged. Fail to act and you really do fail as a dealer. If you cannot keep your side of the street clean then don't try to make deals (period). Excuses are just that...excuses. And when a deal goes bad, carrying around an attitude is the quickest way to be viewed as a complete jackass. It really seems that certain FOGs are saying that sometimes a simple, unconditional, and timely apology can go miles to repair a failed trade and avoid this very reputation-damaging type of fallout.

But then again I think Wilkey is right about keeping a 'list.' ;)

ggiese......."Forget what I (and others) say, Ricky - look at what you say. And look at your actions in your trades over the totality of your visits to these boards."

I have over one hundred successful trades between the two sites I frequent since November of last year. Four late because of childbirth is not too bad. Every single one has included extras, or been more than the person asked for. Ask the guy I sent a Cohiba 30th Anny habano, Ashton VSG ER churchill, BTL, Anejo 77, and Opus D/C. Or, the guy I sent a full BOX of his favorite cigars to. Or, the newbie I sent a humi and FORTY sticks to for sneding sticks to the troops. Ask them if I know what being a true BOTL is.
it is about giving to others, and sharing the hobby. AND UNDERSTANDING SOMETIMES THINGS DON'T GO RIGHT. BUT IF YOU GIVE SOMEONE A HEADS-UP THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG, THEY WILL MAKE IT RIGHT.

A simple e-mail or P/M is not asking too much.

you get a fifteen yarder for piling on.

BTW, my name is Rickey with an E. So you can get it right on your "list"

Other than being a member of this community who admittedly doesn't trade all that much, I don't have a dog in this fight. But after reading all this, I'm reminded that you can fix blame or you can fix problems...but seldom both at the same time.

So, I have a couple of questions for you Rick. Which are you more interested in doing? Is it more important for you to be right...or to resolve the issue with as little damage to your trading reputation as possible? Even when we're not solely at fault, sometimes we have to take our lumps with some humility and move on. Your call.
