Vikings 2008

TJack wasn't ready to start at this level and I think this game proves it. :whistling:

I think more then anything else it proves how clueless Childress was when it came to Jackson. It was quite clear that the plays called for Gus were not even close to the plays called for Tarvais. If Childress wasn't willing to trust Jackson to run those type of plays then Jackson never should have been the #1 guy to begin with.

With that said, I was at the game and I must say it's much more enjoyable and the beer tastes so much better when the Vikes win!

What's your take on the Vikings this weekend?

I see a tough win, even if they're on the road.

I think it's going to be one of their most difficult games of the season. TN is a very good football team that is well coached. As good as MN's defense has played this year, I think TN has the advantage when it comes to the pass rush and secondary and I see the game coming down to that. I'd be surprised if a win came by more than 6 points for either team. I do think TN comes out on top this week.

If they do win this game the Vikings will definitely make a statement about the direction of their organization.

I'll give the Titans credit for their 3 - 0 start, but look at who they played.

I think this is going to be a bigger test for the Titans than for the Vikes. True the Vikes have only won one game but look at who they've played. If Peterson gets closer to 100% I see the Vikes pulling away in the second half.

I don't think the Titans are going to be running the ball all that well. Look at what the Vikes did to Carolina. So it comes down to the passing game for the Titans and Collins who I think is on par with Gus.

But I could be full of SH*T. :whistling:

Chili's on the hot seat after this game. I hear if they lose the next, he could be on his way out........KICK ASS OFFENSE...YEAH RIGHT

The Vikings didn't look great, but TN is a superior team. Their defense is very good and the offense does enough to score the points they need. Yeah, they're schedule has been a little soft, but they've won all of their games handily. I don't think I gave them enough credit in my analysis.

Childress should be concerned for his job, but I don't think it should be because of this game. TN is just better than the Vikings.

Gotta give Tennessee credit they did win.

Vikes had 4 turnovers which led to 3 TD's for the Titans. Should have been a lot closer game.

What an UGLY WIN. :0

It must hurt to be a Saints fan today! :0

A win is a win. there are NO style points in the NFL. The Vikings did just enough to win it. If Chilly had at least 1/2 brain the Vikings should have blown the Saints out!

I guess so. What I'm wondering what happened to AP and the running game? If you have to rely on Gus you might be in trouble.

The fact that we won does not negate the fact that we were out-coached again. This should have been a slaughter, with all of the mistakes the Saints made.

The deep passes should have been thrown in the 2nd quarter when it was obvious that the Saints were stacking the box. Complete one or two before half, and AD would have run for 100 yards in the 2nd half.

Antoine Winfield is a stud! 8 tackles, 5 for loss, plus the TD, sack and fumble recovery.

Back to coaching, Chili should have had this conversation with the Special Teams coach after the first return by Bush. "Kluwe kicks the ball to Bush again, you can hand me your resignation tomorrow. Understand?" Would have saved another TD and a 60 yard return.

Longwell=Money
Gramatica=Unemployed

AP is an incredible RB; however he has A LOT to learn. There were times during that game that Reggie just put on a show and AP stood in awe. AP can be at that caliber for sure, but he needs to focus a bit more on what the defense is doing. At times he can react like a seasoned veteran, but for a majority of this season so far you can tell he is still in his 2nd year pro. Frerrote is another one; he just seems too big and clanky to be an effective QB. I think against a team like NY the pass D would wreck them. If it weren't for the million dollar man Berrien running around the field like a lunatic catching every (almost) ball that's throw in the air (even if it’s not to him), they would not have won last night.

Sorry for the rant, just my .02

Sorry but as a RB Bush can't hold a candle to Peterson. Bush is an unbeleivable punt return guy and pass catcher out of the backfield but he's a situational player.

Bush is but a piece of a very good offense. Peterson IS the offense for the Vikings. He hasn't got the luxory of a coach who knows how to use him properly or contruct an offense that opens things up for him thus is easily defended.

The 4 Saints turnovers didn't hurt, either.

Like you said, Peterson is only in his 2nd season. He needs good coaching to get to the next level and that is one thing he obviously isn't getting. He has so much raw talent I think he can become a VERY good NFL RB, but he won't get there without good coaching.

Peterson already IS a very good NFL RB. He's stuck in an unfortunate situation. His coach is unable to create situations that allow Peterson to use his talents.

I agree to an extent. However, Peterson I do not think is the only part of the offense. When AP gets 41 total yards, 0 Td's and the Vikings still win, he is a very minor part of the offense. Peterson has done incredible things so far, but as the last few post's have said, he needs way better coaching.

I also think that overall Bush is a better RB than AP, IMO.

A better RB?????

I think you would definitely be in the minority with that opinion.

Bush has been called by some (I don't necessarily agree) a bust. Peterson is already considered an elite NFL RB and some have called him the best pure RB in the league already.

Bush also has exactly 1 100 yrd rushing game to his credit, hardly the mark of an elite running back.

Peterson conversely has more 200 yrd rushing games in his short career than Bush does 100 yrd games! Lets also not forget that Peterson holds the NFL single game rushing record and did it his rookie season!

Peterson averages 5.2 yrds per carry and 94 yrds a game.

Bush doesn't get close to that.
