I was curious what you guys felt was the best new release of 2007. Also, since a great number of you age your sticks, what was your best "new" old smoke you revisited in 2007?

I have only had 1 Padron 80th, but I thought it was lights out!

I don't know about the Padron 80th, because I have not tried one yet. I assume this is going to be the hands down favorite.

So far the favorite new relaease that I have tried is the San Cristobal. I love the spiciness of just about all Don PepPERin creations.

Edit to add: Cuban Releases would definitely have to be the Cohiba Maduro 5 release.

Ditto here. No traction yet on getting my hands on a box, hell a single Padron 80th but I am very much looking forward to it. Someday, somehow...... :(

This was the year I really 'discovered' Don Pepin's great line up of smokes. I have smoked two, so far, our of a box of San Cristobal's I have and the flavor profile is really complex, and very nice. DP 'Blue Label' have become one of my more consistant "go to" smokes.

So many cigars....so little humidor space.....

Cheers - B.B.S.

I've hit up a number of the DPGs and what not, but I've gotta say, those Oliva Master Blends 3 smokes are quite good (they're new this year aren't they?).
Chris

In all honesty, I would really have to say that it's a toss up between the DP Blue Lancero or the LfD DL Cameroon Lancero.

The El Centurian wasn't up to smoking yet, but I would probably cast it in next years top 10.

Technically I guess the new BGM came out in late 2006 but they didn't really hit the street until 2007, so that would be my top vote. I also think the various LFD Cameroon Lanceros are very good...

Monte Petit Edmundo is smoking mighty fine right now. Close behind is El Centurion, San Cristobal and need I dare say JJ Maduro...

I have to agree, the BGM are really good for a young smoke, I was surprised. The CM5's are a great innovation, about time too... I love them!

Padron 80th...mmmm, don't want to burst anyone's bubble and of course, I have only had one, the next will tell ME the story.
This stick is more hype than class IMO. It's different for sure, there are subtle tastes I don't find in the 1926 line but a great
smoke...I don't think so.

Well- for the quick smoke-hands down the 5 Vegas Shorty! Cameroon wrapper and this thing has a KICK! Perfect for the drive to/from work and the "extended" lunch break!

I haven't picked my favorite overall this year I save the best anticipated smokes for Christmas Eve/Day and New Years.

The best old "new" release is the VSG IMHO

I haven't smoked one the Padron 80ths that I bought, figure I will wait a couple of months. But I have to agree with Rob and Insight, the LFD lanceros are great and I also like the LFD Box Press stuff. I am becoming quite the Litto whore.

For me in the NCs, probably the LFD Cameroon cabinet cigars....great smokes and great price. For cubans, seeing how the RE's and ELs came out rather late, I would say the BGM would be the best followed closely behind by the CM5.

I don't have a cigar that was just released in 2007 but for me my favorite cigar I had this past year was easily a Montecristo Edmundo that I first tried while vacationing in Cuba. The atmosphere and the greatness of the cigar made it a very memorable smoke.

I would say the El Centurion. I hear all these people saying they're not ready to smoke, but all the ones I have had have been amazing. Some of them start a little edgy, but at the half way point, every one of them has turned into a great cigar. The complexity of the cigar is almost unmatched.

Padilla 1932 maduro but more than likely will get bumped once I get my hands on that Tatuaje black label or the Padron 80th.

Brian and Mike: Which of the CM5's have you tried? I had the secretos and LOVED it, and had the genios and was entirely underwhelmed. I think the small RG really makes a difference in that stick.

Tatuaje Black followed closely by San Cristobal

Good year for Pepin...

I had the exact opposite view when they first came out Phil. I thought the Secretos was merely blah, and the Genios was excellent. However, the last two Secretos I had were freakin' awesome, more so than the Genios. I think once the cigar has time to marry all the different components together (who knows when!), all the line will be phenomenal.
