The 'Other new Guy' Pass

Boy Jason, you should have underlined, bolded and italic'd the word 'supposed'

I'm pretty disgusted at this point. One person sure can ruin the whole experience. I created this pass and involved you guys out of trust that I felt was building from posting. Up until now, I felt that I was a part of a brotherhood that could enjoy the art of cigars. Now, I feel that I ruined that brotherhood by having to post the dirty laundry, and Hallis sure ruined that feeling of trust. Hopefully, PB will explain the rest of the Hallis mess.

Misc, if you DO happen to receive the box, please let me know what type of condition it's in. I'm very concerned.

I'm sorry for dragging the fun down and being so damn jumpy about a lot of ::edit:: stuff lately, and I haven't had a real break yet. Ya ever have that feeling that the walls are closing in on you and you can't really break it? That's how I've been for a few weeks. I need a vacation :p

I am sorry this happened with your Pass brother Tony, but I am confident that the pass is going to be fine. We will find out for sure when Misc gets it, but I am gonna be posotive on this one. Shane may have (scratch that, DID) used real bad etiquite (sp?) in the way he handled it, but I am sure he would not harm your pass.

How many days did he have it and what was passed...Pleasse PM me the story...

WOW!! What have I missed!?!? :( Been offline for a few days, and come back and the box is missing? Or is it located? We had a big lightening storm Saturday, and DSL boxes everywhere were knocked out. Home, work, everywhere, so here I am, back to dial-up. Anyway, sounds like a bit of bad luck for you Tony. Hope the box reappears and everything is OK. Sounds like PB has it covered.

You know, PB's probably right, but, I have to say this...

One should think it through when they sign up to be in a pass as there are many things to consider...can you match the sticks, afford the shipping, keep the turn around quick, etc.

I look at a pass like this, and I'm not a wealthy man, just a working stiff who loves a fine cigar and the fellowship that it brings: I always remember what it's like to send out that box myself and how you're anxiously awaiting its return. Bottom line, if you aren't 100% sure you can get it, leave it better than you found it and get it out to the next person quickly, don't sign up!! It's that simple!

That's my take on it and that's the way I look at every pass I sign up for!

Toni, I hope all is well and the box continues on as it should!

Leebo

Well, we're hoping it hits Misc soon.

It's not even a matter of matching the sticks for me, or even the turn around time. It's the complete lack of respect for the players and myself. Not posting that you have the pass, what your puts/takes are, and then the tracking number. For all I know right now, he took a handful of cigars and put in a swisher. I really hate to beat it to death, but when it left me, it wasn't a pricey pass, but you guys put in some really quality smokes, and they were for everyone else. For one person to go and take it, and just leave people in the dark, that's just wrong.

I'm not going to post about this anymore, because it makes me sick to my stomach.

In fact, I'm leaving tomorrow for GA. Fran's receiving an award for the National academy of finance, so I'm going so I can say I'm dating a celebrity LOL. I'll be back on Sunday, and I'm bringing a handful of smokes to annoy all these people :p That ought to show them! LOL

Not sure if I'll be connected while I'm gone, but if you need to let me know anything, shoot me an email. I'll be able to check mail, but not sure about anything else. Ugh. Being unplugged sucks. Withdrawl.... Must......bring.......laptop........can't.......gaaaaauh.....

:sign:

It's hot in GA. BUT, the Marriot in Atlanta has high speed internet access. WHOO HOOO Good thing I brought my laptop, 'eh?! The hotel here is nice, it's kind of built in a round, so when you come out of your room, you can look straight down to the concierge.

Another kick butt aspect of coming, is I get to see a friend I haven't seen in about 10 years. Known him pretty much my entire life (ok, 23 years). going to meet his wife and kid for the first time on Friday. Should be interesting. All these people getting married and having kids... Damn nesting instinct :p

Heads up Misc!

I am ON MY WAY to the post office.

I feel a little bad for Hallis -- I can understand being poor and having family/friend emergencies. Still, when a guy has 100s of dollars worth of someone else's cigars, he should be in communication to at least explain the situation. Sorry too, to hear that Tone was stressing. While I hope Hallis doesn't get black-balled, I also hope that he learns the importance of keeping committments.

I'm going to hold this for JUST A DAY OR TWO -- it's my first pass-box, and I want to give extra care to my puts/takes. It *WILL* be back in the mail by Monday, perhaps Sat, maybe even Friday.

(I wonder if Long's Drug has Elderberry-flavoured cigars :D )

Don't worry about holding on to it, your the last man. Take yer time.

I hear Long's Drugs sells them elderberry flavored smokes, along with manuer flavored maduro's LOL

Those, some peeled eyeballs and a glass of Vanilla Coke. Ahhhh

Package arrived. Outter box looks a bit worn, but tupperdor and cigars all seem to be in perfect condition (at least as far as I can tell, from a quick inventory.)

Give me a day or two to figure out my P&T, and I'll have this box on its way home.

Tony, you made out like a bandit! Why didn't *I* think of this?! :D

Glad to hear everything is okay!

Misc, I couldn't agree with you more about having someone's box of smokes and the communication piece!!

Cheers! :D

Hey, I notice on the inventory list that there are 2 partagas in here and, as tempting as it is to steal the only ISOM (never had one <G>), I'm afraid I've nothing comperable to replace it and I'd hate to get a bad rep on my 1st pass.

(Hmmm, maybe I could cut it in half, and duct-tape something good to the base, and Tone wouldn't notice... <G> Or maybe if I say it wasn't there when I got the box from Hallis... ;D)

Anyway, before I start man-handling all the cigars in the tupp, can someone tell me how I'd tell the ISOM from the "el cheapo" one? ;) I've heard good Partaga reviews, and wouldn't mind trying one that I'm actually able to order here in the states...

Thanks. Still thinking about my puts -- what's your flavour, Tone? (Aaaah! The pressure of being last ;) -- I can't complain, I asked for this position. Never again!))

Well.... Maybe someone with more ISOM exp than I should help you out on that. I've only had 1 ISOM, and the way I was able to tell was because:

A- the label said so (has the habana on the label somewhere)
and
B- Because the person that gave it to me said so (Gotta keep givin Gil his props. Great man)

So other than that, I would have never known.

But I tell you what *best Hank Hill voice right there*

Go ahead and take it once you find out which it is. First pass and all, you had to wait the longest, blah blah blah... Don't worry about replacing it, uh, it was in the Misc only bag ;)

-Tony

Don't know about the rest of you, but I want to know what Hallis' P&Ts were. Seeing as how I am relatively sure there are no OpusXs to be had in our neck of the woods. So let me know Tony, I am curious.

Hallis' entry on the sheet says:

Take: Partagas Habana (oh, I guess that renders my question about the 2 Partagas moot, eh? The remaining one must be the ISOM, which I'll leave alone)

[edited in later: Oh, newbie me! "Habana" is the ISOM indicator? Well, whatever. I'll do my P&T with cigars I can figure out and if it botch it, Tone can send me private e-mail and tell me to UPS him a mug of beer, or something. :)]

Put: Fuente Fuente Opus X

There is, indeed, a FF-OpusX in the box (only cigar diagonally in the zip-lock) I'll not take it, as I remember Hallis' e-mail saying it was for Tony.

Ok, and I'll think extra hard on my P&T and try to get that done today. Tomorrow's mail at the latest. Sorry, events are conspiring to eat up all my time! :\

(Well, and a guy's gotta have time to smoke cigars, too, right? :))
