The 'I'm home and need some fun' Pass

hehehehe, as long as you clipped and lit them for the youngin's... Gotta teach them right :p

Of course! You shoulda seen this one little kid. She was dressed up as a ghost. The sight of her walking down my steps with a lit churchill sticking out through the hole in the sheet is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. :D :D :D

Hey FT, are you running Mozilla 1.2b by chance? I've been having a funky error once in a blue moon with it. When I go to a websie, once in a while, it doesn't show the text at all. I have to highlight the whole page, or refresh. Just a niggling problem, nothing to get all whacked out about. Just wanna know if you have that problem....

I'm thinkin' it's Quartz for me.

Well, there weren't many left after the Halloweeners were gone, but I managed to find these:

Takes
Por Larranaga Robusto
Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1 [ISOM]
Saint Luis Rey Petit Corona [ISOM]

And replaced them with these:

Puts
Ashton VSG Tres Mystique
Domaine Avo <50>
Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature
Sancho Panza Non Plus (2000) [ISOM]
Trinidad Fundadores (1999) [ISOM]

Hope this meets the Bug Man's approval. DC 0300 6000 0000 0655 5145.

Brother Tony, I do think I would call what FT just done a downright Hook UP. :p Hey FT, did you earmark that Trini for ole Tone, or leave it up for a grubby grabber?

Hey FT, are you running Mozilla 1.2b by chance?
Nope, 1.1 for me. Could be a problem in Moz in general or it could be specific to the the Mac port. I would look in Bugzilla and see if there's a bug report yet and if not, submit one. That's the whole point of running the beta, right? You could also back rev to 1.1 and see if the problem is still there. If it isn't, then you know it's something in 1.2.

Hey FT, did you earmark that Trini for ole Tone, or leave it up for a grubby grabber?
It's up for grabs, but if somebody takes it they better leave a pretty sweet stick in its place. :)

Bah! It was quartz. I turned it off, and BAM. No more blank pages.

Holy Shmoley, great puts FT. Thanks! Where's this thing off to next? Misc I believe right? Yes, that is correct. It goes off to Misc.

Almost half way folks!

Got my catcher's mit on.

So, I do my puts & takes, then hand the box to myself, do another round of puts & takes, then mail it back to the good father?

Quartz is the OS-X imaging layer, but how the hell do you turn it off?! That's like saying "I turned off Windows, and now my browser works better."

My guess is that the problem is with Mozilla's miss-use of the OS, not in Quartz, itself.

Box is on the way...you might want to let it thaw out for a day or two. :) I added insurance: VA 955 110 084 US

I turned off Windows, and now my browser works better.
That's exactly what I did. Actually, one day my computer crashed and put up an error message that said, "If you continue running Windows, your computer may become unstable." So I removed Windows and replaced it with Linux. Whaddaya know....the error message was right!

My guess is that the problem is with Mozilla's miss-use of the OS, not in Quartz, itself.
I agree. I think I'd still try 1.1 and see if there is still a problem and then submit a bug report to Bugzilla.

Misc, look for a haxie to turn off quartz's layer and download Silk. Things are much better. I think the next X update should have a fix for it, because on the Apple discussion board it seems to be a problem

LOL, FT, I had that same error one day. I was reading the requirements for a game, and it said, "Requires Windows 2000 or better", so I installed Linux (hahah, yeah I stole that from thinkgeek).

I'm running great now.

Misc, if you want to do that, um... Sure. Go ahead. Mail it to yourself, do another set of puts/takes and then send it off LOL

Anyways, so far Mo 1.2b is running nice and smooth. no hangs, crashes, blah blah blah. Pretty stable. I don't use the mail app or composer so I can't give any props on them.

I used composer to create the webpage for the Gumbo Pass. Not too bad for quick and dirty. I never really learned html so that's good enough for me.

" look for a haxie to turn off quartz's layer and download Silk" This is english , right?

"If you continue running Windows, your computer may become unstable"
ROTFLMAO. That is so true, just wish I was 20 years younger so my brain could understand this puter stuff. I'd trash windoze in a heartbeat. Problem is most days I'm lucky to remember how to turn it on.

What a nice box of smokes this is, can't believe I get to plunder it again. Is it too early to start the dance again? :p

Wascal

I do most of my coding with BBedit now, and a little Dreamweaver and Flash when i have to kick it up a notch. I used to use Composer when I ran Windows, and I liked it a lot. Great add on.

Wascal, don't worry about it, I don't know what I'm talking about half the time either anymore. Just seems to be all techno babble and hip acronyms now a days.

Anyway, hope everyone is staying warm tonight, because it's frickin freezing here in NY. It's about 34 degrees, and it's not smart to wear a leather jacket without the liner and a scarf.

Now that is freekin funny. :p are you sure you are a computer geek? You sound much more like a great comedian

heheheh, who told you live in the freakin mountains? :p Or the valley between the moutains... Or um... In a cold section of the country? :p

Jus playin FT, better than living where the debris meets the sea, as many of my west coast friends like to call it.

:)

Actually, it's not so bad. It doesn't feel all that cold here. First of all it's dry most of the time so you don't get that wet cold like in the northeast (trust me on that, I've lived there too). Secondly there isn't any air, so there's nothing to conduct heat away from your body. And third, you expect it so you tend to dress for it. The problem is that we went straight from 65/30 temps to 25/10. I didn't get a chance to get acclimated.
where the debris meets the sea
Wouldn't that be Joisey? :D
