The Douchebag daily jam session 2022

I guess maybe I don't know what you mean by a synthesizer? There's a pretty prevalent piano on that beat?
Okay, let me rephrase this in an attempt to eliminate confusion.

If there are no musicians then it is not music.

Singers, or in the case of rap, talkers, are not musicians unless they are playing a musical instrument.

Kids!

So, it wasn't a musician that played the piano, drum machine, etc for that beat?

I honestly don't know because I am not familiar with the artist. But the real simple answer is that if I play a recording of a drummer, guitarist, or keyboard player, that doesn't make me a musician.

Are you just trying to be obstinate or were you dropped on your head as a child?;)

I'm the one being obstinate, ok...

😂

All I can think of, are all the people taking about Dre pretending to play the piano during the super bowl halftime show because they've convinced themselves he's not a musician. Make the facts fit your narrative, not vice versa! 😂

Yes! You are! One example doesn't make a rule.

If I find a winning lottery ticket laying on the sidewalk does that make me a sound financial manager?

Just because someone with musical talent calls themselves a rapper, doesn't mean that rap is music. The vast majority of rap is simply words spoken to the beat of a synthesizer, there is no musical talent in that art.

I mean, that just simply isn't accurate, but ok...
Did you ever think that maybe "you" listen to a small segment of rap that doesn't represent the overall art of rap?

There is some rock that crosses over into heavy metal. I love rock, I don't like much heavy metal. By your logic I am don't like rock. just because a little bit of it crosses over.

You can argue all you want ...... if there aren't musicians, it isn't music. But you can like anything you want, hell, you might like Gurkha's.😁

I have played this on repeat since you shared it. One of the purposes of this thread was so I could find new tunes to smoke with. Thanks a million.
I could totally see this blasting over Santa Monica pier speakers

I'll have better luck talking to a wall...

I'm not even going to bother debating "if there aren't musicians, it isn't music" since you're unwilling to even acknowledge that most rap/hip hop production does involve people playing instruments. It's not the diamond in the rough you want to portray, it's the norm. I'd argue the use of samples in music like the Beastie Boys requires a "musician" every bit as much as playing an instrument (they did both fwiw, but I guess they're another exception, not the norm 😜), but I can already see where that would go! 😂

Not trying to convince you that you should like any of it, or trying to justify why I do. We all like different stuff and that's great.

I'm done now, have to finish figuring out how much the tax man is going to bend me over for.

ETA: forgot to mention, I definitely don't listen to a small segment of rap, I even listen to the new garbage that is coming out that my son likes.

An I remembering accurately that you were an attorney at some point in your life?
No, but I have always done first line litigation for my clients to get them out of bad contracts with carriers.

Maybe that was it. Anyways, good debate. Sorry you're content with being wrong.😂
AT&T contracts are usually 30 pages that can be summarized by "you will pay us no matter what" and "we are not liable for anything". The trick is finding the errant language ...... like your fucked up perception of rap, it's in there somewhere.😂
