Tatuaje

Tatuaje, is Spanish for tattoo. It refers to the line of tattoos that grace the arms of the cigar's creator, Pete Johnson. This fella Johnson was the cigar buyer for the Grand Havana Room in Beverly Hills. He decided he wanted his own unique cigar offering. He turned to Don Pepin Garcia and his El Rey de los Habanos factory in little Havana. What they came up with was a damn good cigar. The craftsmanship is excellent, not surprisingly, since they are made by Cuban expatriate level 8 cigar rollers. The cigars look like they came from Cuba, down to the triple caps. Weather they taste like Cubans is a matter of opinion. They are however, in my opinion, some of the finest cigars available anywhere.

mmmmmm.... good! I'm actually just about to go to my humi to pull one out (probably a Regios) and have myself a fine smoke!

Her eis a link to a retailer in my area that carries the full line plus a vitola that is made only for his store.

Tower Pipes and Cigars

Great people there and he does mail order through his site as well.

IMHO, one of the finest cigars i have ever had the pleasure of smoking...specially the tiano's and cojonu 2003's are incredible.

These are great cigars, one of my favorite new lines - I am on a mission to try them all...hey, we all have to have goals, right? LOL

This is my favorite line of cigars. I have to say that these are better constructed and taste better than most Fuente products...and I am a Fuente whore! But the Cojonu '03 and Noella are two of the finest cigars on the market...always consistent and very, very tasty!!!

This cigar is a boutique brand...although I have heard that Pete is shipping production from the the small factory in Miami to Nicaragua to be able to supply the growing demand for his product! This may hurt the brand and it's reputation. I hope not...

...and Pete recently put in his last day at the Grand Havana Room... It's all Tatuaje all the time now! Congrats, Pete.

That's not quite accurate. The Tatuaje and Cabaiguan lines will continue to be made in Miami. Pete is coming out with some NEW lines that will be made in Nicaragua.

Since this seems to be the popular thread now for the Tatuaje line, I'll ask here, has anyone tried the RC-184? I was hoping for a short review on taste.

The RC184 is one of the best cigars I have had the pleasure to smoke. Complex (too complex for me to make any great observations), toasty, full of flavor, smooth and balanced. They generally need some time to dry out from the B&M, but when they are ready it is a special smoke worthy of the price tag, IMHO.

All of Don Pepin's cigars need to be kept below 65% Rh. 62% would be better. When smoked at 70%, they are bitter and burn poorly.
