Contest Results....sorta :whistling:

Hope everyone had a great Super Bowl day of partying....I sure did. Leading up to the kickoff, I was busy cooking (Bacon Explosion!), eating and drinking at my buddy's house and put everyone on alert. I told our group to be on the lookout for the temp info we needed. No one saw or heard anything about game time temperature other than an earlier report by Al Roker. So I went to the booth for a video review....I DVR'd the game starting at 6PM yesterday....and watched the 25 minute lead up to the kickoff and the first quarter (earlier this morning) and didn't see a graphic on the screen or hear it mentioned.

I just went to the Weather Channel's website and found yesterdays weather in Tampa....LINK....The temp at 6:05PM was 67, sun down at 6:10PM, and the temp at 7:05PM was 65....so with a game time kickoff at 6:25PM, I am declaring the correct winning number at 66 degrees. Being that NBC dropped the ball, I'm changing the rules!

JUST LIKE IN THE NFL, ANY DISPUTABLE PLAY OCCURRING IN THE FINAL 2 MINUTES, NO CHALLENGE FLAG CAN BE THROWN AND THE BOOTH REVIEW IS FINAL!

Members submissions....

CONTEST

3.) No help for other people. Family, friends, pets, neighbors...anyone.

Woo Hoo this gets me out of chores for a week. Wife " Can you help me......" Me-" Nope, it's against the rules" :sign:

Yes, I know what you meant, but I couldn't pass up such a great smart-a$$ opprotunity.

Alrighty then - my fine fellow CP'ers. Here is my proposed P/T list. Once again, I apologize for the delay in this post. It's not fair for the rest of the pass for me to hold it up for so long. Nevertheless - here 'tis:

Prices are based mainly upon the Comparison Shopper spreadsheet dated 11/20/08 and marked "CS", unless otherwise noted. If I used CS to determine price, I used the lowest box price, and divided it out to reach a single stick amount.

Take: #2 5 Vegas Miami Toro - CI box price $5.00
Put: Don Lino 1989 Churchill - CS $5.28
A smooth, good burning cigar with nice mild tobacco flavor.

Take: #78 Arturo Fuente King B - Famous box price $6.75
Put: Exquisito Baldy Toro - SJ Cigars SRP $6.20
Dual wrapper - connecticut all the way with a maduro wrap from the band to the foot. Nice complex flavors and great construction.

Take: #85 Joyo de Nicaragua Antaño Machito - CS $2.25
Put: Perdomo Golf Toro - CS $2.59
Great construction, good burn, mellow flavors, medium.

Take: #84 Carlos Toraño Virtuoso - CS $4.80
Put: CAO CX2 Robusto - Famous box price $4.99
Earthy, woodsy flavors with a touch a sweetness - which grows more pronounced in the last third.

Take: #96 CAO Brazillia Impanema - CS $4.34
Put: Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne Robusto - $4.71
A mild and mellow smoothie with great flavor.

Take: #97 Partagas Rosado Tube - CS $3.39
Put: Partagas Black Magnifico - CS $3.49
This is one of my favorite go-to cigars - full of rich coffee and chocolate flavors.

WILDCARD:
I'd like to take the #66 Padilla Series 68 Toro - CS $4.90, and have a Gurhka Grand Age Perfecto to put in its place. However I ran into both moral and factual dilemmas determining a price for the put. The cigar.com price on the Grand age is about $10, but I know I got these on c-bid for less than that. However, I don't remember exactly what I paid for them. Seeing as I am a chronically cheap bastard, I don't figure I paid more than half of the cigar.com price, so I'm hoping that although I'm lacking the data to price match on this P/T, that everybody will be okay with it.

A difference of about 75 cents. Is there another stick you can P/T and get the total closer to zero?

I might have missed the part where we're supposed to net zero on the puts and takes, or maybe this is just sarcasm and it went right over my head. You aren't serious are you? ???

I think your reasoning is fine, and like I've said before there's cigars out there with very inflated msrp's that 99% of the time do not sell for anywhere close to that. I think this is a fine put, unless others feel otherwise.

I do remember reading somewhere along this pass that Marco (or maybe Gonz) said that we don't have to get it perfect. This is supposed to be fun not a nail-biting hair-pullin stressful pass with HTF or rare sticks.

Ahh....The dilemma of Gurkha. Much in the same way as Cohiba Red Dots and DR Monte's, you pay for a name. I am interested to see what others think, but I sort of can see both points of the agruement. First, who actually pays full price for Gurkha's? They often can be had as deals of the day/week/month or found at various sites for 1/2 the price as stated.

However, most passes hold you to MSRP of a cigar, not what you paid for it. If for example you paid $15.00 for Anejo Shark, it is not worth $15.00 in a pass. It is only worth its MSRP, which is often determined using MMM's guide post here. So just because you might have paid less than MSRP does that mean you should subtract that out?

Conversley, CP has a strict no profittering policy. So it would seem that the rules kind of put us at odds.

In this specific case, JayBay is "trading down" based on MSRP. This presents no real problem in my mind, and as JayBay stated he is sure that he paid less than MSRP.

So where does that leave us... Pretty much where we started. All the puts and takes look good to me, even with that pesky $0.75 difference.

It was all quiet on the Western front.
So I threw that out to get some bites.

It worked :sign:

Forget the net zero, that is almost impossible get.
JayBay P/Ts are fine with me. I just asked if there is another P/T he can do.
Seventy-five cents to one lower end cigar is a significant percentage of the price.
If we were dealing with $10 cigars then the amount is not that significant. imo.
On the other hand we are talking about the total not just one cigar, so that logic fails. :p

Anyways. It was only a question I asked. Whether he does or does not is up to him.
All I am trying to do is get discussion and see if he has anything to get closer to the zero mark.
Either way we can move along.

Seventy-Five Cents out of a 10 dollar cigar is still 13.333% of the total cost, which is still a bit.

On the whole the Seventy Five Cents comes out to approx 2.7%, but again he is on the plus side.

To be honest I first thought your 0.75 cent comment was in jest, now...

I laughed

It is .75 divide by 10. Not 10 divide by .75

???

Irony is a bitch

Nothing to see here, like the man said move along

I did the best I could to keep it even - so that's it. Best I can do....although - if I scratch the proposed $5.00 value of the Gurkha and make it $4.25 - it's a complete wash. How 'bout that???

I feel that what you had already was fine, wish me luck for me to get that close.
