Spreadsheet or database record keeping?

The honest truth is if my wife ever saw an actual inventory of what I have she would skin me :D

I second this! I keep telling her that the boxes, 5 packs and whatnot that I get off C-Bid and others are only bombs that you guys are still sending from the Newbie Vs. Fog war! I haven't paid for anything yet... :whistling:

Ooooh, I gonna hate the day she finds out...

taking names, print outs of inventories and smail mail off profiles- making a list checking it twice!

Nah-kidding HAHA!

I wish I had enough inventory to make record-keeping necessary...I end up smoking them as fast as my limited budget allows, so I usually don't have too many laying around, maybe 30 or 40...not much to record-keep there...lol

Well, with the stuff I bought and have on the way my 40 jumped to about 80, so now I need some form of record keeping...that plus I plan on buying about 20 more, mostly AF Hemingways and a few PAM's...so it's gonna hit 100 here in the next week or so...damn these things are addictive......got a CD from one of the cigar seller websites but can't remember where...it had CigarBriefcase on it...free software...looks like it might work...

My education continues. I feel really guilty now because I have taken the "open the humi and peer inside" method of record keeping. I vow to begin record keeping tonight via pen and paper and would be happy to log records into a database here on the board if and when something was put together.

Haven't told her yet that we need to upgrade to the 153qt coolidor... that should prove interesting!

Actually, she's a good sport about it. I got a number of flavored cigars from some BOTL here for her to try, yet she has been feeling off all summer and has not yet had the stomach to try them. She finally is feeling better, so maybe soon... if I could just get her to come over to the dark side with me!

but if she knew what C-Bid was doing to me...

Hey just noticed this thread and I used to do a lot of SQL / Access work in the past and actually have been using a converted video game database I setup for a small game shop a while back in access. It was a nice little relational db that allowed you to pull up games by title and see all the details along with a pic and even a website as needed. I pretty much just renamed the fields for cigar usage. Works nice, but I don't have the time to keep it all together. I could actually port it to my sharepoint site for usage and suggestions. Only problem is it's all windows and MS based so not sure if it would work unless it was hosted on a NT box.

Hello LGHT,

Any chance you'd be willing to share that access database file? I have Access and it sounds like it certainly has the features I'd like in a record-keeping system.

TIA

Hmmmm...
the hosting company I have my personal website on has SQL on it... perhaps I could host something like that?
