Quad State Herf III @ Schlesingers Cigar Bar

Holy shit this thing has gotten over the top huge........I totally can't wait!!!!!

Thank you for all of your work to make this happen

Beth

I am psyched! Charlie, how early can I show up? I can help set up if you need me.

Joe

PS Looking forward to meeting you, Beth. :)

Well, we are one week from the event to kick off, woooooooo hooooooo.......

I've got to meet the tent guys over at Schlesinger's around 1100 - 1130 to show them where to place the 20' x 40' party tent as we know that 100 guests will be tight in the bar and a lot of folks will want to move around. We have all the needed items already for it, i.e., lighting, heaters, ect. It's an inclosed tent with thick clear plastic siding, the kinds that you see at wedding and such.

I've heard on a number of different cigar boards in the past few weeks, this is turning into one of the biggest Herfs on the East Coast not counting CigarFest 2008, Famous Smoke BBQ or the Great Smoke in Florida. I know my spare bedroom is getting full of boxes and I'm on my 4th cooledor full of cigar boxes waiting to make goodie bags for all the guests......... :D

?? What's the tent for?

Seems like a big waste once the raffles are over.

?? What's the tent for?

The lap dancers

Dave,

We have a head count now with over 100 guests; 85+ on the list, a few personal friends of mine from West Point, some addition friends and family along with a few regulars from Schlesingers that we have invited as well. Mr. Sherman will most likely do his presentation / discussion in there and It will be nice to have a little elbow room as well. You never know, Tom might indeed have the lap dancers from down the street show up as he stated........ :D  :p

To give everyone a general idea as to the sequence of events and when they should show up, here you go:

1300 (1 o'clock) The setup crew arrives installing the sound system and does all the sound checks. Also, deliver all the door prizes / raffled items as well as the 4 coolers+ of goodie bags.

1400 - 1500 (2 to 3 o'clock) Guest arrive and start to socialize. At that point, I hand you a couple of goodie bags and a raffle ticket for a door prize or two. As this is going along, we will be selling raffle tickets that benefit the cause; 1 for $5, 5 for $20 or 13 for $50.

1530 (3:30) The door prize give-aways begin. Once that is done, you'll have one more chance to purchase raffle tickets for the grand prizes which include so far: 7 different humidors, cigar indian, God of Fire lighter and cigars set, Xikar cutter and lighter set, and a number of other super items that I want to keep a secret till the actual event.

1600 (4 o'clock) Once the Grand prizes are done, Mr. Sherman will do a presentation / briefing covering a few things; where the cigar industry is now, seed to cigar, the SCHIP Tax, and the new Nat Shermans located at 5th and 42nd St.

1630 (4:30) Now it's time to enjoy the rest of the evening socializing with cool drinks, dinner if you please and of course, premium cigars.

I hope this answers a number of your questions as I'm getting a lot of emails / PMs asking what time to show up and stuff. All I've got to say now is I'll see you all next Saturday........ :)

Oh man Charlie, it's going to be a blast. The weather forecast is favorable, a big party tent, goodie bags, a doorprize, a killer raffle, good food, fine cigars, stiff drinks, and last but not least, good company. Life doesn't get better than this. :D See you guys/gals saturday.

Gerard.

I will be in attendance!

A very generous brother is picking me up at the train station on the way up. I'm still looking for a ride back to the city, or a ride up to the train station in Poughkeepsie. I would need to be in Poughkeepsie by 5:30 or back to the city in the 7-8 range.

I'm really excited about this. See you all Saturday.

ok. I'm going now! See you mugs there!! Can't stay long but I'll have time for a couple smokes and a black and tan fer' sure!!!

I got you back on the guest list Ralph (ilccchef2) and Matt (mmburtch) same goes for you. You two will be the only legitament guests to leave after the door prizes / raffles are done so far........ :whistling:  :D

If the weather is as nice as it is today, no heaters will be needed!

Sean, with all the rain and snow that we have gotten in the past week, the ground is pretty saturated. The heaters will help dry things out along with a couple of bails of hay / straw....... :)

Stogie,
As per our conversation count me +1 in.
I will bring the prize item as discussed.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

thanks
Dave
