I just got to Nicaragua and am checked into my hotel. Puro Sabor ( https://purosaborcigarfest.com/ )
begins tomorrow and I’m planning on doing my best to capture it for y’all in the hopes that some of you decide to go. I’ve already made new friends here. I ended up getting “adopted “ by a group of 10 from Fresno CA. The call themselves the Holy Smoke bible and cigar group.

The end of my first day in Nicaragua is here. Woke up @ 3am for a 6am flight to Managua with a short layover in Houston. As I said earlier, I meet up with a cigar group from Fresno CA and was adopted into their tribe. I smoked a bunch of cigars with them and drank a ton of Tona beer and ended the day with a 3rd world version of a steak dinner. For $40 I got their best interpretation of a ribeye, salad and potatoes. Not terrible but not Ruth Chris’s either.
Tomorrow, Monday, we head to Grenada on the shores of Lake Nicaragua for a day of culture exploration and some time on the lake. Tuesday we will head up to Esteli for the farm/factory part of the trip!

Very cool. This sounds like a great trip.

How’s the hotel?
The hotel is the Best Western Las Mercedes. It’s across the street from the airport- like walking distance from the airport. The grounds are well kept. 2 pools, one geared towards kids the other for everyone. You can smoke at the outdoor tables.
The rooms are spartan but clean and conducive to sleeping and showering. All in all, it’s much better than you expect from a Best Western.
Most of the staff speaks good-enough English so getting food, coffee, beer hasn’t been a problem.

That is the airport. Across the way.

The grounds are well cared for and really nice.

Just arrived at Hotel Dario in Granada and officially checked it to Puro Sabor.
I’m met with a box of cigars, a leather man purse will with a bunch of stuff, and a guayabera shirt. The reception includes tacos and rum.

Welcome pack.

Yo quiero rum y cola , por favor.

Looks like a fantastic trip so far! And meeting people from Fresno of all places... That is about 90 mins south of me - I haven't heard of that group, but there is a similar group near me that I am a part of. (We have a standing Thursday get together, though without the specified Bible study time)

How's the humidity down there?
