Ree - I agree - this is Bull $h*t!!! I was sincerely hoping it was a mistake - that someone would look over their cigars and see that they had two extras smokes someone couldn't account for. I guess I'm naive, but pretty much everyone I've met on this board has been a square trader, and I don't see a name on the pass list I see any problem with. I TRUST everyone in this pass, and on this board. I've sent out smokes to others on this board, sight unseen, without worry that I'll get back at least what I sent out. And everyone has been very generous in their returns.
So it brings it back to this pass. If someone "stole" the cigars - we should root that ba$tard out, and ban him from the board. It is ABSOLUTELY bull$h*t. If you made an honest mistake and the smokes inadvertantly did not make it back into the box, now would be a good time to make that known to BD. If you stole the sticks - it would be in everyone's best interest (including yours) to come forward, because it will only be a matter of time before it comes out (I'm sure everyone has seen the attacks that have happened in the past to less then honorable traders). I could understand if someone admitted to it, and asked for forgiveness - it would be a rough go for a bit, but I believe the other members would develop trust much quicker knowing the truth.
Another observation - I've found if someone steals once, they will steal again. And if someone did steal the smokes, somewhere down the road - maybe a week, maybe a month, maybe a year - someone will make the connection to this pass and that will be the end (I'm afraid, a pretty horrific end, because there will not be a board on the internet you won't be dogged on). I hate to say it, if it costs me $25 worth of smokes to root out someone who is a thief, it's a small price to pay to make sure our community will be safer in the end...
As far as the smokes themselves being missing, and the possibility they may never be returned, I think it is like the same situation in the Simplicity Pass when the sticks were confiscated by Customs. Everyone popped in a smoke to make up for it, so the host would not be out in the end. I was asked, with a secret PM, and felt (on my own - no pressure) that it was the right thing to do. I was hoping that the errant smokes would have shown up by now. But, I don't care what others do, I intend to send BD a stick or two so he's not out - only because (to me) that's part of the price I pay having been fortunate enough to be a participant in this pass... BD put a lot of faith and trust in all of us in this pass, and I don't take that lightly. I feel somewhat responsible because I didn't do a full inventory when I got it - I was too wrapped up in getting what I wanted, and not thinking about the host (I trusted everyone as much as BD did).
