The wife and I enjoy the power of the N. Atlantic, so with the coming of hurricane Bill we decided to take the 40 minute ride to the seacoast. I couldn't believe what I saw when I got there. There were folks standing next to the seawall as the waves broke over the wall. laughing and giggling, absolutely obliviously to the possibility of large rocks and boulders being thrown at them by what appeared to 12 foot seas. There were kids in the water. Evidently their parents never heard of rip tides. What the hell ails people. The ocean nothing to fug with. I feel sorry for the Coast Guard. Nine times out of ten they risk their lives for idiots.

Doc.

Reminds me a of a trip to a state park in Texas where some kids were throwing sticks and trash at a ~6ft. gator in the water about 6-10 feet away, from the bank. My dad told them it wasn't a good idea and was thanked with a dirty look. Some people are just dumb, and unfortunately, I believe are the same people will blame their mishaps on someone's negligence.

When I caught some of "Idiocracy" on TV it reminded me to turn off the TV. They don't call it the "Idiot Box" for nuthin!

I've become so sensitized to people behaving badly that it's difficult to watch anymore. Of course, I do live in a college town so that explains some of it. :p

What? No pictures?

Same thing happens over here when the Big Surf comes in from a storm. Usually someone dies.
I like to watch the surf from a distance but not standing on the rocks. Idiots.

People around here always go down to the shore of Lake Superior to watch the big waves and stuff. It's not the ocean, but there are some powerful currents and some very big swells in some parts of the year. The stupidest ones are the ones that go out in late winter when the ice is breaking up during a big storm. There are pieces of ice the size of a Volkswagen being tossed around and up on the shore and people just go out right in the middle of it.

Dumbasses.

Doc, I work around inmates, so I am priviledged to see the worlds finest, at their finest. It boggles the mind when one witnesses exactly how idiotic people can truly be.

Someones child was sucked into the ocean and killed today in Maine. I could only think to myself " Wait. There was a hurricane passing through there and the weather was horrible. What was someone doing out at the coastline with thier children??"

"Well, the sign is there just as a warning... it's not like anything bad will happen to me."

Reminds me of a video of some tourists at a zoo, one guy climbed over the waist-high railing on a path placed 5'+ from the tiger cage. While standing right next to the cage, he put his back to it so his pals could take a picture of him. Hungry tiger + meat snack = plenty of hurt. The guy was lucky to escape with only shredded clothes and some scratches.

*shakes head*

Don't forget about the people who go out on the ice dunes despite the constant warnings. Every so often the ice breaks one falls through.

Here's the story:Concord Monitor

My thoughts on this:

The parents should go to jail for endangering a minor!

Those were my thoughts as well. The parent should be held responsible for reckless actions that cost the girl her life.

Thats how people are. I live in a really small town in the middle of Missouri, right smack dab in tornado alley. In the summer we get all kinds of crazy weather, when the tornado sirens go off, everyone in town goes outside with a video camera. The siren that is supposed to signal everyone to go grab shelter sends everyone outside with a frickin video camera to try and tape where the tornado is. Gotta love it.
