Palio Cutters at Cigarmony.com!

Then I retract my statement... Im not sorry :)

Wife basically said, "why don't you just buy what you want and say it's from me". I was thinking a nice cutter and lighter would be a good gift.

Before Steve comes in with his hurt feelings, that was not a flame....just trying to make a point about folks posting about shit they think they know about. Hell, I don't know anything about the history of these cutters. I'm certainly not going to post something I heard and mislead Mhortsch either.

There is way too much of this going on, as Bill has pointed out this week....

If you're referring to me, then you're "posting about shit that you think you know about". My feelings don't get hurt by anything on this board. I just get fed up with the BS that gets slung around from time to time. ;)

Thanks Mark, the reason I asked about charging the in-box humidifier is a friend of mine has a "Herf-a-dor" which I believe to be simular to your product, and water never seems to enter the small foam oasis in the lid it just pools on top instead. I was just wondering if your product was different.

Beads are the way to go.

Try tapping the humidifier against a hard surface to help drive the water (distilled water) down into the foam. I have never had a problem with them though.

I haven't used every cutter out there but the Palio is the best I've used by far.

What's the story with these? I remember hearing something back when I entered cigar world. Is the price worth the plastic?

They used to be a German company that was bought by another, more entrepreneurial group.

Production has been moved from Germany to Asia. The quality, as of a while ago, still didn't measure up to the original ones.

HerfinBigDog knows a lot about Palios.

Just to dis-spell any rumors. Palio cigar cutters were never a German company. It started as an american company and remains one today. We think the informational post we made here:

http://www.cigarpass.com/forumsipb/index.php?showtopic=17532

will answer some questions about our product. If anyone has any further questions we can answer we will do our very best to accomodate them, simply e-mail us.

Right, the company has always been American, I was talking about production. I HEARD at a herf, from someone who apparently spent a lot of time researching Palio, that the new owners were going to have the blades or the entire cutter made in China.

However, if Matt R says they are made entirely in the USA, I believe it.

I think what you heard was someone talking about possibilties.... I talked to one of the owners twice this week and for the life of me cannot remember where the blades ended up being made, but I don't think it was China. But, I know these are being assembled, at a bare minimum, here in the states and that some of the other "processes" are being done here too.

No, as I said before, HerfinBigDog discussed this with me in person at the herf at Shelley's. The discussion was specifically about Palio cutters. He apparently did a lot of research, and based on feedback, decided to get one. When he did decide to get one, he found out that the company was under new ownership and was having the blades made in a place other than where the original Palio blades were made. So basically he had to throw out all the feedback, because the feedback was for the OLD Palios, and who knew how good the new ones are. I am just repeating what he said.

He ended up getting one of the "original" ones so he was happy anyway.

They definitely look cheap, but have a great reputation. BOTL is promising consistent quality, so I hope for the sake of all future Palio owners that he'll make good on his word.

I have no stake in this. I like the cheapie (<$10) stuff myself and get fine performance out of my equipment.

Just ordered from here, will let others know when I get mine in. I'll do the quality check on this product and report back.
