Hell, I don't know anything about the history of these cutters. I'm certainly not going to post something I heard and mislead Mhortsch either.
There is way too much of this going on, as Bill has pointed out this week....

Wurm said:Thanks Mark, the reason I asked about charging the in-box humidifier is a friend of mine has a "Herf-a-dor" which I believe to be simular to your product, and water never seems to enter the small foam oasis in the lid it just pools on top instead. I was just wondering if your product was different.
Beads are the way to go.

They used to be a German company that was bought by another, more entrepreneurial group.
Production has been moved from Germany to Asia. The quality, as of a while ago, still didn't measure up to the original ones.
HerfinBigDog knows a lot about Palios.

Just to dis-spell any rumors. Palio cigar cutters were never a German company. It started as an american company and remains one today. We think the informational post we made here:

will answer some questions about our product. If anyone has any further questions we can answer we will do our very best to accomodate them, simply e-mail us.

Lumberg said:Right, the company has always been American, I was talking about production. I HEARD at a herf, from someone who apparently spent a lot of time researching Palio, that the new owners were going to have the blades or the entire cutter made in China.
However, if Matt R says they are made entirely in the USA, I believe it.

I think what you heard was someone talking about possibilties.... I talked to one of the owners twice this week and for the life of me cannot remember where the blades ended up being made, but I don't think it was China. But, I know these are being assembled, at a bare minimum, here in the states and that some of the other "processes" are being done here too.
