Why is it that when people who post on bulletin boards claim to be ex-military, it's always recon this or seal that. It's never "I did my hitch and was discharged. Didn't see any action outside of bootcamp."

If this guys is an internet poser, then his PM to Drew makes sense. If he'e legit, then it's as puzzling as it is disturbing.

You know I served my country for 12 years and had my chance to get shot at more than once but I do not feel the need to advertise it to the world. i still work for the milliterry and my expierence is most guys who shout it to the tree tops have insecurity issues and use the fact or illusion ( I have seen both types)that they were in combat to bolster thier own self esteem and present themselves as tough guys to the rest of the world. most folks who have been in combat do not feel a need or want to discuss it with the rest of the world unless they are among thier brothers/sisters in arms or perhaps intoxicated. if indeed you were a force recon marine that is a privelage and honor and you should not use their good name to bash other people it is a disgrace furthermore if you are a combat vetran shame on you for feeling the need to use it as an excuse to act badly towards others. if you have been here for over a year lurking you would know thier is a shit load of vets on here and I suspect most are embarresed for you.
