This is about a code of ethics here at CP that we follow and to accept these would be out of line with what a BOTL is all about.

I agree with Al... this thread got a bit harsh but his advice is very sound for life in general. I gotta admit I learned this lesson rather late in life and 5 years ago I would have taken the cigars and ran.

Al got a little emotional in his response but in his defense I believe this is because he realizes how infinitely better the world would be if everyone conducted themselves in this manner.

Al has proven himself as a top notch brother whether you agree with his view or not.

This thread has shown what a great community that CP is. BOTLs standing up for one another on both sides of the fence and differences of opinion understood and discussed. I can see both viewpoints here, and I know Al is standing up for what he sees as the right thing as a retailer and a great member here. It's good to see cooler heads prevail and I for one won't judge anyone from this exchange in a negative light.

I wasn't going to post here to avoid being a noob fanning the flames but I just can't figure this one out. You have had your account for almost three months and been lurking a year. Over all that time *this* is the thread that strikes you as most typifying of a perceived hazing dynamic at CP? Al got hot because he empathized with the situation faced by Famous and the moral implications of how buyers were handling it. Tigger decided to keep his side of the street clean, Al apologized for his tone and famous handled the screw up exactly the way they should have. Nobody burned any bridges here and nobody got hazed. So my question to you (dethwish) is this: if you feel there is a 'frat-boy hazing' dynamic here at CP, why did you choose to publish your thoughts in a thread that doesn't fit your model?

First off, it doesn't matter to me whose side you're on - I neither need nor want the support or assistance of someone who, under the cloak of anonymity, makes comments that disparage Cigar Pass. Incidently, in light of your comment and the fact that I'm the only one on this thread who has a post count within 100 posts of 500, I have to question your sincerity about the "side" you were claiming to be on.

Secondly, if you are who you said you are to Drew (more on that in a moment), I thank you for your service. I had some buddies who were in the Gulf in '91, and as quick and decisive as our victory was, they saw some pretty tough stuff. I wrote "if you are," because claiming to be Force Recon is not unlike claiming to have been a SEAL - most of the guys I've known who claim that honor haven't really been there and most of the guys who have been there aren't very public about it. I hope you're for real.

Finally, this is a website devoted to the knowledge and enjoyment of cigars. Why not make some posts about your experiences with our shared passion instead of stirring up something that had been put to rest. I, for one, would be interested in what you have to say about smoking.
