Ordered a new Ford Edge

That's too bad it didn't work out. It's a shame they weren't able to be honest and upfront with a customer with a history at that dealership. You gave them plenty of grace.

Good luck finding the car you want!

Wow. This is totally different than my experience with ordering the Jeep. We had the VIN, so we knew the ride existed somewhere. We just didn't know where it was. Sounds like your dealer neglected to order the car and they're covering up big time. Run to another dealership.

Needless to say I was pissed Friday that I waited all this time and I'm left standing empty handed after all this. Hopefully things will go a lot smoother at another dealer and that I'll actually be treated good this time.

Sorry to hear it didnt work out man. Situations like this are very frustrating. Hopefully you can work with another dealership to get what you are looking for, and they can get it in a timely manner.

The only car we every ordered was the wife's BMW X3. Our delivery date was about four months, but since her car was fine we weren't in a hurry to get the exact car we wanted. She was offerend a guaranteed trade in value and we got to drive her trade in until delivery.

BMW has a website and we were given a logon and password where we could follow the progress of the car through the factory, to shipping, to prep, to dealer delivery. It was really cool and they beat their quoted delivery date by a week and a half.

If the domestic car makers want to compete with the better european cars, this is the type of standard they'll have to step up to. It's not impossible, but someone in upper management has to "give a s#!t" enough to make flawless customer experiences happen.

While working for the Bavarian beast I found out the only reason BMW offers tracking to customers, is because Mercedes started doing it. I thought that was interesting.

....it would seem that BMW understands who the competition is. Makes perfect sense to me....

I believe Saab has a program where you order it, they fly you to Europe to visit the factory upon its completion. You enjoy the car for a weekend, then they ship it to your home state and you pick it up at your dealer. I thought that was a great way to make a mini-vacation out of buying a car.

I guess that's why Saab went under?

actually i think its BMW or mercedes is the one that does that Saab might have done it also but the Euro company puts the whole thing in your buying price might add a couple grand to your total but i do think its cool that you drive it from the factory to the docks and get to enjoy the autobahn. Just dont crash it before you ever get it home.

I've heard of some car makers taking you to a driving school and race track for some high performance driving if you buy one of their sports cars, but not for just any old vehicle.

Got my deposit back earlier in the week. Stopped by another dealer yesterday and placed my order. Was treated great and should have my car ealry March. After all this, I'm even more excited to get it this time!

Well, I picked her up the other day, 5 months after I placed my initial order. Needless to say, it's about time. Though I'm just glad to have my car and the waiting is done.
