Not Your Everyday Cigar Pass

Take #58 Opus X 952R
Put #80 Anejo #77

Ummm, not sure about that one.

When did you join the pass ???
J/K, that's why I mentioned it in my first post. :)

Aha, maybe the pass has got a little interesting again. People are now
debating whether a $40 stick is good to go against an aged stick etc etc

Brian

At the moment the high-lighted is what concerns me! What sticks are missing?

Honestly, I don't want to go there. I was getting frustrated because of
the errors, there are numerous. My puts will be numbered as per my post,
these you will know will be correct :)

Brian
What do you mean you don't want to go there? If things are sqrewed up ... It's got to be fixed. And when you say somethings missing. That deffinately needs to be discussed! I wouldn't want the box leaving me with out saying something, especially if sticks were missing!

I'm a member of CP, so I do have voice. Just check out my post count

Anyway, this Opus was released w/ the Forbideen X Humidor in 2002 and sold for $10,000 and included 100 cigars:

Promethus Info

If you take the Humi out of the price (let's say $5,000 for the Humi) that leaves $5,000 for 100 cigars, which comes out to $50/each. Unless you are replacing this with an unreleased Shark, I'd say this is a little lopsided. But that's just my opinion.

The Cohiba Piramide goes for around $25/each. You'd be hard pressed to find a box of 2001 from any vendor for that price. I'm not really sure about this one since Toboada isn't what he used to be and his prices are getting insane. I'll leave this one for the masses

I didn't say or rather mean that sticks were actually missing. I said that on the list there's a stick with a number but that stick is not in the bag. Whether this is an error and the stick was not removed from the list, I cannot answer that!

Point taken - thanks!

If others agree, I'll remove the two P&T in question, keep the other two as is and move the pass along.

FYI - the Gold Medal was the best smoke out of the three bundles I bought this year, that's just my opinion.

This has not been the smoothest pass since it left Andrew!

And why are you over compensating on this play so much?

Take #76 Stanfords Cameroon Churchill
Put #81 Davidoff Diademas Finas 100th Anny

Good point. Is the Stanford a 90th?

Ok I took a lot of time putting these plays together cuz of the recent happenings, let me put it to you in the light I saw it in.

Took my comparison in prices from what we sell at the Outlaw, and the Fuente reference thread. For comparison sake I removed the tob. tax from the Outlaw pricing.

First up
WOAM-$7.00 Rare, but still in production.
VS
LFD Outlaw-$8.50 40 boxes of 24 cigars per box total production.
(the blend is Factory Press I binder and filler with an oscuro wrapper)

Second
Signature Maduro-$6.10 again rare and still in production.
VS
Stanfords Churchill-$7.10-1100 boxes of 20 cigars produced annually.
(further production is up in the air at the moment)

Third
Untold Story-$12 Rare and again still in production
VS
LFD Factory Press I $12 +/-1000 boxes 120 cigars per box total production.

So with this in mind my plays were in the right order as I see it.
Beleive me letting go of that Outlaw was not easy, but I wanted it in the pass, as for what it will take to get it, that I don't really know, so I guess at this point its up to Andy.
I thought at first it was... until he posted this. So.. obviously... it's not... right?

right!

To clarify
The Stanfords is the Cameroon wrapped Cuesta-Rey

NOT

The Cameroon wrapped Diamond Crown.

And as far as I could tell all cigars,at least the amount of cigars was there as best I could decipher. I didnt take the time to actually hold each stick to the posted list on the boards and I took my numbers from the next open spots on the paper list in the box.

The sheer magnitude of stuff in that box is enough to overwhelm even the biggest collector.

Yup, those Cohiba Piramides have been quite elusive for me.

I gotta agree with the Opus for Shark trade, not quite up to par in the rarity for rarity class.

BTW, did you say that the Untold Story is missing? (EDIT: went back and reread the last few posts to find that it was accounted for)

Ok guys, I still don't know where this leaves me.

I would happily (I sincerely mean this) add another stick to the one's in question and do a 2 for 1 but that is not how a pass goes. I also have many ISOM's that are 8 years old but their MSRP was not or is not the same as the Cohiba which is 3 years older.

It confuses me with the Gold Medal and Cohiba pyramid. Value is more than good as I see it and taste is subjective. Just because you don't think the Taboada's you smoked were that good doesn't devalue the smoke. Similarily, I may not like the Cohiba Pyramid taste.

So, what is the general consensus, somebody want to help me out here. Do I just do two trades and not 4?

Geez, this was supposed to be fun...

I would say the the Cohiba for Gold Medal is acceptable, I just have a hard time finding those Cohiba's for my own humidor  . The prices for the GM's are what they are and if somebody wants them, then that is the price that you pay for them.

Cool! I want two more ok's on this and I will do the 3 trades, leave the Opus - hell, I'm not that partial to Opus these days anyway. :whistling:

Yea, that wouldn't be good. It would be a horrible idea to set that type of precidence.

Taste is subjective and really doesn't enter into P & T considerations, except by the person doing the Ps and Ts. Value for value, rarity for rarity, ISOM for ISOM. I think you are good here.

The Shark for the Opus won't fly though. Sorry man.

My $.02.

Hopefully Gonz will get you a ruling soon.

It would be really helpful, and in the spirit of "leaving the pass better than you received it", if you could verify all the numbers on the sticks as it stands right now. Then shoot that info to Gonz. He can determine if sticks need to be put under different numbers or if he just modifies the first page. But this would help the integrity of the pass, and help to make sure sticks weren't missing.

Again, just my $.02.

Agreed. This is always helpful.

also agree! I want this thing SHIP SHAPE by the time it gets up here!!

And the WOAM for Opus is lacking in equality methinks... but that's already been decided it seems

Actually, the WOAM is a put, there is no take and that will remain.

I don't know some of the sticks but will go through each and sort as best
as possible. I'm off to a meeting so the pass may delay leaving until tomorrow to enable the sorting.

As an after thought - will an FFOX Reserva de Chateau (I paid $23.95) put cover the Opus which does not have an MSRP, well one that I can find. If not, I'll stick to the 3 trades and the WOAM.

Thanks for the input guys, if anything, it is enlightening to get different opinions.

I would say to just stick with the three trades ..... can you refresh my memory again on what those are.

Thanks for handling this in such a positive manner Brian, I've seen some guys have a total meltdown when their P&T's came under some questioning, you've been a great example to other BOTL's on how to handle themselves.
