New to Cigar Pass - Introduction

Hello everyone. My name is Jim Anderson and I just came across the Cigar Pass forums. I have been reading the completed passes and would like to get into fun! I have been smoking cigars on and off for about 10 years but have recently gotten "serious" about it. I have a good friend who is VERY knowledgeable about cigars and he has taken me under his wing to teach me more about this passion of mine.

My humi is pretty stocked right now with AF Anejos (great find at local retailer selling them at MSRP with no limit), a few Opus X, a bundle of non-banded ISOMs (through a friend of my cigar mentor), and a bunch of other pretty pleasurable sticks. Once people get to know me around here I would like to get involved in a pass but will probably need quite a bit of help with the puts and takes.

Favorite smoke up until today is probably a tie between a Pinar 3000 and AF Anejo. Can't wait to try my Forbidden Xs but want to let them age a bit and I need a special occasion!

Well, I guess that does it for an introduction. I look forward to participating on these boards and getting involved in my first pass in the near future.

Welcome aboard Jim! Sounds like you're on to some pretty good smokes so far. I must say though that "a bundle of non-banded ISOMs (through a friend of my cigar mentor)" sounds a bit shady. :)

Welcome to CP, Jim. Glad to have ya aboard. It sounds like your humi is a happy box and you are off to a great "start" in this "Hobby" :laugh:
 
Thanks guys. Yeah, UVA country. I got my Ph.D. in Chemistry from there in 2003 and now work for a pharma company here. I know what you mean about the bundled ISOMs but this guy knows his stuff and his friend actually lives there and sends him bundles from time to time. I have yet to try one though. Once I have done a few passes and people get to know me I will start a pass of my own and seed a couple of them for each person to try out.

:D You have now compelled me to light one up.

Analysis:

This is a Robusto

Construction: Nice Maduro wrapper, Firm, good build

Draw: Very easy draw with LOTS of smoke. Firm white ash.

Taste: Pretty mild but very tasty. Hints of coffee.

So far a pretty decent cigar. Will report on middle and finish later...

Oh oh, Mrjingles is way above my head, I got a "D" in General Chemistry in my freshman year at UCONN :D :D

Excellent Jim :thumbs: :thumbs: That takes A LOT of work, (more ambition than I'll ever have :0 ). Ya know what cracks me up? I sure you've met them, the people who say "Well I've done everything for my PhD except my dissertation." That's like "I'm almost done restoring my car except there's no engine/transmission in it yet and I hope to have the interior installed REAL SOON." :laugh:

Thanks coventry. Yeah, we used to call it "ABD" = All But Dissertation. It always seemed crazy to me that people would spend 5 years on something and then quit. Oh well, to each his/her own.

UPDATE on non-banded ISOMs:

Still smoking really well. Flavor has intensified a bit. I'm actually really liking this cigar. It's no Anejo but good all the same.

Thanks for the invite AVB but I can't this Saturday. However, a couple of my buddies and I are doing a Cigar Crawl in Baltimore in March. :)
 
Post the info about that. We're having another herf in march too......the 22nd I think.
