OK... I've gotten a few PM's asking about the salmon and it's 'availability' (and requests for bombs! :laugh: you know who you are...)
Since I need to make a little room in the freezers (yes, plural!) here's another contest:
How many Sockeye (Red) salmon did my household get this summer?
RULES:
- one guess per person total
- only members in the USA states & Canada (sorry, but since it's frozen I need to ensure quality... international shipping will allow to thaw and possibly spoil)
- Guess how many red salmon both Mary and I caught for the entire summer (TOTAL NUMBER)
- Winner to be announced Friday Sept 2nd sometime in the evening (I'm at work so it depends on how many people dial 911 as to the exact time!
)
- winner will receive a box of fish: (to be sent at an agreed upon time)
- a whole fillet of Copper River red (1/2 fish),
- a half fillet of Copper River red (skinned for blackening) (1/4 fish),
- 2 packs of halibut (couple of pounds),
- 2 packs of smoked salmon (2 different recipes) (pound?)
- and a pre-made tub of my famous salmon spread. (16oz cream cheese container)
- If room permits a bottle of Alaskan Smoked Porter seasonal beer.
(substitutions can be made if you ask very nicely...)
in case no one guesses exactly right, closest guess wins. In case of a tie, the person closest without going OVER wins. All decisions are final BTW...
here's the only hint I'll give- We were out a total of 6 times this summer for reds, both to the dip net fisheries and with a rod and reel. And reds are the tastiest of the salmon...
