My First Contest

I am such a lucky man.

I am sitting here in my home, a glass of my go to bourbon in hand (Knob Creek) and I am thinking how great it is to be surrounded by fantastic people.

A world of friends both close and a click away.

This wonderful community. A wonderful family.

We are blessed, all of us. And the bourbon has not made me preachy, or at least not more so then usual...or at least not more so then is bearable. :laugh: But, there are men who are begging for a cup of rice today. Believe me I know how easy it is to forget that. I do it all the time too.

I thought I would include the thing i am most grateful for. A picture of my wife with the packages we put together.

Nice play Matthew and those who stepped up to help with the other places. This is a shining example of what a great community this is, to the extent I'm making my wife read this thread.

In my time here at CP it has been my utmost pleasure to become part of a community that I not only enjoy and make a hobby of, but one that has set an example for me to live life by.

The idea of Paying it Forward is one of the best examples. The definition of this philosophy is basically what comes around goes around, so practice random acts of kindness and we all are the better for it.

So 10 packages have been sent out to everyone who sent me their addresses. Yes I lied, in a way. All the ten packages have good smokes in them. While I would give you all Opus 22 sets if I could, I cannot. But, What I could do was give out a nice selection of above average smokes, and one package of super premium and HTF’s. I do not know who this went to. The ten packages were packed before the contest even started.

I want to thank the other brothers who offered to chip in. When Rich told me he would take the sixth place winner I began to laugh, as I had explained what I was doing to all the great brothers who offered to contribute, it became a bit of a joke to my wife and I. The generosity of CP will never cease to amaze me, and those BOTL who jumped right in did so out of true conviction for the PIF.

Forgive me for rambling, which I am most certainly doing now. I only wanted to express my deep admiration to this place. I want to express my deep hope for those of us who need a little extra hope, not that you are down and out, just that we might provide you a pat on the back.

A package arrived today with some nice sticks in it. The gesture was very thoughtful Matt, but the note meant more. Thanks and much love. I always try to pay it forward, and so soon I will again...

Just got my package today and this is the note that came in the package. Matthew, you sir are one outstanding gentlemen. In fact you've inspired me to sign up for community service next weekend in hopes of making the same impact on someone else's life as you have to mine and others in this community. I also wish the very best for you and your lovely wife. God bless brother.
