I got lucky in this year's Total Wine rare release lottery after all!



Man! It's been a few years. I put it at the top of my ranked wish list on their Members lottery every year, but all I've ever gotten was the Blanton's "consolation prize." When I got the Blanton's & Weller's buy invite I figured I was out of luck again, but they emailed me last night with the buy code for my very own bottle of Stagg.

Local store pick of this tasty JDBP Rye. Very nice with a little/lot of water. Edit: I've gone back to this three times in a few days. It is fantastic for my palate.

That particular bottle (2023 / 135) is the best bourbon I've ever had. Congrats and enjoy.

Total Wine had another invite only, Reserve Members only rare bourbon buy recently, but after the last one---where the first people in line got there at 5:00 AM for the ten o'clock opening---I just didn't feel up to getting up early OR standing in line for hours. Not even with a few bottles of Pappy on offer for, like, the first 20 people in the door (since that's how many they had).

Figured that was the end of it but yesterday I got an email. They had a bottle of Blanton's GOLD left with my name on it!



Picked up a bottle of my usual "splurge" bourbon, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, while I was there just to keep me from sucking the Blanton's down too quick.
