Napster kind of led to some really bad case law on this stuff. All of that broadcast content is owned by someone or some entity. The value of that content is in controlling its commercial market. Games, movies, tv shows…all are valued and they are conditionally released to achieve profits.Sure is, but that’s not a consumer issue. It’s a provider issue In my mind anyway.
Do not take anything I say as legal advice.
Taking a side route to gain access is, at a minimum, theft of services or theft of intellectual property. The lawsuits I’ve defended were ALL filed in federal court. All were settled. There is a confidentiality agreement on the details. They insist on confidentiality.
I’m not trying to be a jerk about this stuff but I can say the lawsuits are very real. Heck, one of the big companies has hired former FBI agents to do their online tracing. They knew what kinds of devices, dates of downloads, dates of streaming. Defending these cases has been 100% about damage control because they have the facts in hand from the beginning.
Do as you wish with this stuff but make informed decisions.
