Is it me?

From a newbie point of view. It seems to me that all the "bad" newbs get all the boards attention. There are quite a few very cool new guys and fogs that i've had the pleasure of meeting. I have tried to contribute everything that I possibly can to this community, I've read alot and posted little, when given advice I have responded with a "will do, thanks for the advice" I've sponsored HERFS, i've bombed at least a dozen guys, contacted my reps to help guys get new sticks when they got bad ones, etc.
So yes, I agree there are some bad guys out there, but there are also some of us who are trying to contribute everthing we can to help our fellow BOTL and be a productive member of this community.

During that discussion, she said that I had to "respect" her. I told her I did - she told me I didn't. As that line of reasoning went on, my daughter blurted out, "But Dad, we're equals!". I asked here where she ever got that idea. She said her teacher told her that... I was stunned. I told her we couldn't possibly be equal - I was the parent / she was the child. She was devestated...

I see this issue a lot from kids who have parents who are trying to be the kid's friend or buddy instead of the kid's parent, often letting the kid talk the parent into just about anything. And when this happens, it isn't mutual respect that comes from the kid, it is a feeling of entitlement.

I love my daughters and I'll do just about anything for them, unless I think it will be detrimental for them in the long run. They don't see the long run, so we clash at times. Sometimes I can explain, but sometimes it comes down to "because I said so".

Sometimes there is no changing someone's feelings of entitlement.

Guys,I know exactly how you feel.I have 5 children.It is truly amazing to watch other parents and the way they handle their kids.I take my daughter to preschool and there are the children running all over the place with their mommies calling out"OK dear,I think it would be a really good idea if we sat still,dont you?Honey? Is this the proper way for us to behave?" Over and over while their little precious is acting like an asshat.If I had done that when I was little,I would have had trouble sitting down for a few days!I can remember getting paddled at school.Now,It would be a federal case if some little shit got what he deserved at school.Dont get me wrong,my kids are not perfect little angels,but I can take them out to eat and not worry about them running around the tables.The same kids whose parent wont make them mind and give them anything they want without question are probably the same ones who go into school with a gun and start shooting because the were picked on.I hope I am wrong but I believe we may be raising a generation of pussies and crybabys.Oh well,I hope this made some sense to someone. :laugh:
