Interesting read

I have never ordered from Puroexpress, but I might try some of the replacement brands they mentioned.... And I fully understand that it was an add disguise as a blog post

Good read. I've ordered from puroexpress in the past and have no complaints.

I haven't really been in the buying phase of the hobby for some time and decided to take a look... GOOD LORD! Some of the sticks I used to consider daily smokers are looking like investment sticks! One thing the article failed to mention is the impact inflation has had. When a currency's buying power decreases, the cost of things increases and it's clear that the Cuban cigar market is no exception.

With limited production and insane 'baller' demand, they can pretty much charge as much as they want and will still sell every stick they can put together. It's my understanding that shipments to Switzerland, once known as a large hub for these smokes, is getting their allocation cut so more can be shipped to....China. I've also heard that most of the smokes sold through the on line auction site also go to China.

As long as there are folks that are willing to pay $40.00 - 100.00+ a stick, and as long as they sell every one they can make....don't look for any price reductions.

it's almost like they are embracing Capitalism ...

I hope the CC pricing and demand, goes the way of what I've seen in the Craft beer industry and now starting in the Whiskey/Bourbon area. Popularity drives up price and demand. Eventually people find alternatives and now you have things sitting on the shelves, that would have been snagged up immediately.

I don't know if this will happen, as long as there are people buying these absurd priced boxes. I guess one can only hope. Sure would be nice to be able to buy a box of PSD4, for $250 again 😂

Let’s just say, for the sake of this question, that CC prices have reached their peak and no one is buying. If they dropped the prices by 25%, would that be enough for you to start buying again, keeping in mind the significant degradation in quality/construction?

For me, that would be a big no…
.

For me, 25% isn't close. The absurd prices have forced folks to find alternatives, and there are wonderful alternatives out there. Of course there are "Cuban only" guys out there. All I can say is they're missing out on some really great sticks....

+1

I was never a Cuban only guy anyway, but there are a ton of terrific cigars out there in a whole range of flavor profiles that Cubans can't replicate.
