Same exact thing happened to mine a couple years ago, about a week after I bought it. Sent it back and they returned it in about 10 days if I remember right. Haven't had a problem since...until now, one of the side's plastic has come loose. So I guess it's back to the factory for another touch up. I'm going to have them sharpen the blades while they're at it.

I love everything about this cutter. Has anyone had any trouble with any of the higher end lines?
