Hey Chat fans...

Just a simple .02 from a newbie that enjoys the chat. I understand that people have different views and different morals and values. Because quite frankly, everyone was/is raised differently and been taught different things. With that being said, we still live together and must work together; to form some kind of compromise. Now, I do enjoy the chat and I feel that it gives me the live and "up close" feeling that I like to enjoy while I am smoking a cigar. Some people, do not like the chat because there are just to many off topic and "bad words" used in the chat, which is a understandable point. However, we must focus on the problem, (disregard sig tags, poker and anything eles that is not chat related), we have people who are on two opposite ends, which in return becomes a problem because no one will bend. If the battle will never end, (someone winning or it comes out as a compromise) whats the point of fighting?

Aside from that, I think that as far as chat goes, we do have the option of participating or not participating in chat. An option that seems pretty fair to me. If it is not for you, then no reason to participate, if its right up your ally then you should be free to participate in it. By no means are we "making" people join the Chat. Some quick thing I learned from my mother, there will be people you will not like in life and their actions (within legal actions) you may not agree with but that gives you no right to tell them what to do. "If you do not have anything nice to say to anyone, say nothing at all." Iv lived by that and I feel when people are pointing figures and trying to make points on this board by using other CP members as "backing to their argument" is a slap in the face to those members. This is just a simple observation, from a newbie who, enjoys cigars and loves to be involved in not only in chat, but as a CP member as a whole(even if i am reading more than, contributing).

I'm glad we could just air the complaints in public. It's clearly the most appropriate way to handle things.

If it was JUST YOU maybe a PM would have been appropriate. It isn't though, so it was necessary to take it public to discuss.

That's absurd. It's not like yesterday everything was sunshine and lollipops and today there's dozen offensive signatures spreading evil and causing people to lose their jobs.

I've been in chat with you multiple times since I've had my signature this way. The same goes for many other chatters whose signatures you don't agree with.

That's not true at all. No one was "revolting" against Rod taking it down. As a matter of fact, the regular chatters have all said that we understand that flash chat is a resource hog, and that's why he took it down.

I've seen a couple of offers recently that it's killed me not to jump on, but the boss lady is pretty good about not asking how much is tied up in those coolers that could have been spent on food and stuff, so I figure I oughta make sure there's enough dough around for the nuptualeses.

Everything that's left on 10/12 is getting converted to tobacco-based assets though.

I suggest you go look up some of the sigs of your fellow "Hardcore chatters" to see that it is becoming the norm and not the exception.

I get withdrawal symptoms whenever I click CP in my favorites and I get the SQL error or the dreaded "page cannot be found" messages. I'm also one of the guys who would drop into chat once in while to shoot the breeze, but if chat was the cause of my withdrawal cold sweats, then good riddance. I'll miss the late nights when I can go and hassle Moki for his lack of poker skills, but I'd rather have the CP forums up and running.

I agree, if the chat or anything else has a negative impact on the server's performance, nix it. This acrimony is pointless, I was merely trying to make the logical case for keeping chat and other peripheral aspects of CP in place in my previous posts, as well as point out that people will always complain if something is taken away from them.

It's then up to Rod to decide what to do about it... this bickering back and forth serves no purpose, IMHO.

Are these what you are referring to? I've looked through the profiles of every regular chat member I could think of off hand, and this is what I turned up.

I'm not saying you were singling me out. The problem you state is chatters changing their signature in response to Rod's removal of chat as some form of protest and the fact that you lumped me in means you were making me out to be some sort of culprit in the first place.

Furthermore, you still haven't explained why you haven't addressed my long standing signature before today.

I started using these quotes are my signature around 12/07. I have posted 114 times since then. My signature is very long, and somehow you didn't once read it (or perhaps didn't make note of it as it wasn't actually a big deal?) until today? If you want I can go back and cite every thread I replied in that you replied after me. But as for never once reading my signature before today, I remain unconvinced.

That has nothing at all to do with this, my kid couldn't read most of the stuff posted in the sigs to begin with and even if she could wouldn't understand what it meant. Bouncing boobies don't bother anyone over here in Europe either, Its the US of A that seems to take being prude to such high extremes.

Totally tangental, but I can't give up the opportunity to steer the conversation towards bouncing boobies. It is actually Europe (or rather, more accurately, Western Europe) that is the exception. The vast, vast majority of the world is far more prudish than the USA.

Believe it or not, on matters of titties, the USA schizophrenically straddles the middle ground, and is often viewed by the majority of the world as being too extreme in all things sexual. Yes, you have topless beaches in some places in Europe, but you also have them in the USA.

Let's not forget that the world is a much larger place than Europe and the USA. Latin America = prude. China = prude. India = prude. Middle East = uber prude. That right there, my friends, is far more than a majority of the world.
